New every morning is your love, great God of light, and all day long you are working for good in the world. Stir up in us desire to serve you, to live peacefully with our neighbors and all your creation, and to devote each day to your Son, our Savior Jesus Christ. Amen.

Today’s Reflection

WHEREVER WE SERVE, the Table of our Lord is a table with a window on the whole, wide, wonderful, wounded world. When we gather around that Table in our particular place, we are united with Jesus’ followers in every place—people whose faces we will never see and whose names we will never know but brothers and sisters with whom we are “one in ministry to all the world, until Christ comes in final victory and we feast at his heavenly banquet” (UMH, Word and Table: Service I).

—James A. Harnish, Extraordinary Ministry in Ordinary Time: An Invitation to Renewal for Pastors (Upper Room Books, 2020)

Today’s Scripture

While they were eating, he took a loaf of bread, and after blessing it he broke it, gave it to them, and said, “Take; this is my body.”
—Mark 14:22 (NRSV)

My thoughts have never went this direction during Communion. I am centered on myself and confession and meeting my Lord there.
This week has been steadily busy, already at Friday. Have not been feeling my best and am giving serious consideration to switching medications. Have been looking in to the two my doctor has recommended. So hard to know what “reviews” are trustworthy.
A hectic weekend ahead as I need to get many things in place as I leave for Florida Tuesday.

I am like Jill, I reflect on my sins and on seeking forgiveness. I focus on God and think of Jesus, the first communion He gave, and the sacrifice He made due to my sin.
Yesterday was my birthday. A normal day otherwise. Last Sunday Megan and I visited a Mummy display at our local Science Center. It is very valuable and includes mummies from many different countries, both man and naturally preserved. It was fascinating and informative.
Wednesday evening h blasted me, verbally abusing me relentlessly. He accused me of having a “secret” bank account in a fictional bank. He insisted in the past I had provided him with tax documents from this “account.” Neither Megan or I could convince him neither the bank or the account existed. He threatened me repeatedly.
Prayers for Jill, may God lead her to the best medication for her symptoms. May He guide her doctor so relief results.
Prayers for Robert, may God lead him to an appropriate therapist.
Prayers for physical concerns for Andrea, Connie and Marcy. Prayers for emotional concerns for Andrea, Connie, Lou and Marcy. Prayers for April, BJ, Betsy, Edy, Mary, and Rick.
    Prayers and thank you UR

Have no idea what happened yesterday, could not post, very glad that is not an issue today.

I think during Communion I am concentrating on being thankful that I received it, thankful for what it can do and what it symbolizes, and I remember Christ. Not sure of the theological correctness of this, but somehow I see this last Passover celebrated by Jesus as the transition from Jewish to Christian Jesus has become the Lamb that saves.

Prayers for Julie’s safety, sure wish there was a way out of your current situation. It is very tenuous, iffy.
Hope there is a solution to Jill’s medication and all goes well before and during her trip to Florida.

Grocery shopping done, a little coating of ice on the new snow that came. Roads are cleared. No breakfast at Friendly’s this morning. Did proofread the next issue of The AMBASSADOR, a railroad historical society publication. Have made progress on my model, asked for some help, and am satisfied it is coming along well.

Prayers for the USA in a very divided atmosphere. We surely need God’s wisdom and guidance.
May the needs and concerns as well as the praise and thanks of the UR family be respectively met and given. Thank You, Lord
