New every morning is your love, great God of light, and all day long you are working for good in the world. Stir up in us desire to serve you, to live peacefully with our neighbors and all your creation, and to devote each day to your Son, our Savior Jesus Christ. Amen.

Today’s Reflection

Walking slows our pace. The spiritual practice of walking reminds us we live from God who is the center of all things rather than at the center of a self-contained, private world. Walking invites us into a deeply physical knowing of the world and opens us to profound intimacy with God. The spiritual practice of walking patterns muscles and mind to discern the elusive traces of God in our world and in our lives. One aspect of Christian spirituality comes in discovering a mindful awareness of God in the immediacy of the present moment. The spiritual practice of walking nurtures this receptivity to God’s presence in the here and now.

At a loss as to how to answer this other than prayer and reading the Bible.
It is one degree here with a negative windchill. Megan is dogsitting for her friends and I am staying home. I have not been out of the house since last Sunday due to my leg injury and the weather.
Prayers that we hear from Ally soon and that she is well. Prayers for Jill’s friend and her daughter. Prayers for Robert and his church as they continue to worship without a pastor.
Thank you for your prayers and may God bless all who visit here.

Today’s question is beyond my current capability to answer. I do enjoy walks and communicate with God during these times. It’s -12 here in NH’s White Mountains, will warm up to the upper teens. Sunny and clear. Have snow shoed and walked.I grew up in this kind of weather.
Hope Julie’s leg injury heals well, we hear from Ally. I add Jill , Larry, Jill’s friend and her daughter to my prayers. Have two sides of East Swanton station drawn in HO scale, very encouraging. Looking for scripture that tells of love everlasting to go with I Cor 13:1-13. I believe love never ends, that’s the focus of the Jan 30th message. Thankful for the blessings of the day, God, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit is with us.

Trying to be more intentional about brief moments of prayer. And, when I find my mind empty or in a wrong place, speaking memorized Scripture to myself. A recent favorite has been Philippians 4:4-7…and part of it is a wonderful reminder – “let your gentleness be evident to everyone, the Lord is near.”
Sharply cold here, as well. This morning started the Saturday morning basketball league for inner city kids at my former church. I have been running the scoreboard and keeping the book for probably close to 20 years. This will run for the next 3 months. Good to see the organizer and the referees after abruptly halting it due to Covid almost 2 years ago. All seem well.
Dad came over for dinner and to watch a little golf and football. He plans on going to church again with me tomorrow morning.
Julie – praying your will regain your strength, that your leg will heal and your stomach will settle.

Focusing on scripture and listening to Christian music. “The Lord is near to all who call in him , to all who call on Him in truth- as the scripture for today reminds us. I am praying for the Holy Spirit to move in me to help me to see what God wants me to do. Praying for my children and for their paths ahead – they all have life challenges ahead and I pray that they lean into their faith and find the comfort and support in God that I do. I’ve taught them and led them in that direction and I hope that they continue on the path of following their Savior. The Lord is near to those who call out to him in faith.
Prayers for all- prayers especially for the homeless as we have another winter storm on the way and bitter temperatures.
God bless you all this night.
