New every morning is your love, great God of light, and all day long you are working for good in the world. Stir up in us desire to serve you, to live peacefully with our neighbors and all your creation, and to devote each day to your Son, our Savior Jesus Christ. Amen.

Today’s Reflection

Walking slows our pace. The spiritual practice of walking reminds us we live from God who is the center of all things rather than at the center of a self-contained, private world. Walking invites us into a deeply physical knowing of the world and opens us to profound intimacy with God. The spiritual practice of walking patterns muscles and mind to discern the elusive traces of God in our world and in our lives. One aspect of Christian spirituality comes in discovering a mindful awareness of God in the immediacy of the present moment. The spiritual practice of walking nurtures this receptivity to God’s presence in the here and now.

I have been teaching on the topic of mindfulness and how it can help us focus on being present in the present. The practice of centering prayer, which focuses on listening for God, helps me to hear God and discover God’s will for my life.
I fell at work Thursday and hurt my knee. It is feeling better, but not 100%. Please pray for me, that I can carry out my duties and make it through. David has graduated from therapy. I think he could benefit from more, but Medicare won’t pay for more right now. Pray he will continue to work on his own. Also, pray for my sister Amy, who has Covid. She’s feeling some better, but still has a very sore throat and slight cough. She’s supposed to visit us end of next week. She says she will be well enough and done with quarantine. I hope she is, but understand if she has to postpone. 3 years of this and she hasn’t caught it until now. Pray also that Mike, my BIL stays well.
