Today’s Reflection
Daily reading and reflection enrich our attending to God during Advent. If you have never written in a journal about your spiritual questions and insights, please consider giving yourself the gift of quiet minutes to do so during this Advent. The small amount of time it takes can be a gift to ourselves and to God as we record our insights and explore what God may be saying to us.

In returning and rest you shall be saved;

Prayer for the Week
Holy God, help us to hear you calling us home during Advent and guide us to set aside time for reflection on the wonder of your Son’s birth. Thank you for the gift of Jesus Christ. Help us to focus on him and to show his compassion and love to others during this season. Amen.

Making space for quiet moments of reflection. Lord, thank you for this challenging question.
Since retirement from my legal career about a year and a half ago, my wife and I have been blessed with full time weekday grandchild care. Presently, we have our 4 year old grandson with us between 11 am and 5 pm, and now we have our 4 month old infant grandson from 7 am until 5 pm every weekday, too. So far, with the baby, I think I can confidently count on his going to sleep for a spell after his morning bottle about 8. Advent reflection time!
Yesterday’s NEM and UR entries brought me comfort and joy. I do try to take some quiet moments for Advent at night before bed. That is the quickest time in our house. I listen to some sacred Advent carols while reading and reflecting on waiting and hoping. I have been dealing with upper respiratory thing and now David is getting it. Our little kitty Patsy, also is sneezy and sniffly. Looks like she will get a vet visit. Pray for our household to be well. Blessings to all.
