New every morning is your love, great God of light, and all day long you are working for good in the world. Stir up in us desire to serve you, to live peacefully with our neighbors and all your creation, and to devote each day to your Son, our Savior Jesus Christ. Amen.

Today’s Reflection

When you find yourself tempted to judge others, say a prayer of blessing for them. This morning as I took my sunrise walk on Craigsville Beach, I found a number of opportunities to bless my pre-dawn morning companions! Tempted to judge the high school student who drove up with hip-hop music blasting, I chose to bless him and his day. Annoyed by the smoker who fowls the pristine morning air, I chose to wave “hello” and say a prayer of blessing. . . . I can assure you that life will give you plenty of opportunities to bless those who inspire judgment and alienation!

Lord, make me an instrument of your peace:
Where there is hatred, let me sow love. Amen.

I definitely try harder to bless, pray for, those who I would have judged and to continue to decrease judgement thoughts. It’s taken a lifetime to get to this point.
Apple picking today, betwen everyone’s cintribution we should do well. Have to watch the 28 mph wind gusts, but expect a sunny day. Thank You, Lord

I am very judgmental of the students in my school. I am quick to shake my head is dismay and use a harsh tone with them when they are being disrespectful and inconsiderate.
Along a somewhat similar line…I have been struggling with negativity in my thoughts this week. And it has really weighed me down. I committed to my thought train being different yesterday. I very intentionally and quickly recognized negativity and prayed a verse which used to be very near to my heart – the beginning of Psalm 5:8 – “Lead me, O Lord, in Your righteousness”. I am glad to have it back in the forefront of my brain and I must have prayed it at least 20 times yesterday. Will try to be as mindful today.
Becky, Don and dad faired pretty well, all things considered. The wind was quite a bit and kept them up until 3 AM Thursday morning. But they did not lose power. There is significant clean up of trees, palms branches, etc in their area – but no significant damages to homes. My god daughter safely evacuated Tuesday and is with her future in-laws. They lost power but have a generator.
