New every morning is your love, great God of light, and all day long you are working for good in the world. Stir up in us desire to serve you, to live peacefully with our neighbors and all your creation, and to devote each day to your Son, our Savior Jesus Christ. Amen.

Today’s Reflection

Note: This week’s New Every Morning reflections are structured differently to follow the format of our featured title Holy Listening, which offers 40 daily meditations with scripture verses for lectio divina, a yoga pose, a breath prayer, and reflection questions.

Where in your being (if anywhere) do you feel strong today? In body? In spirit? In mind? Where do you feel that you lack strength? How do you most need to be revived? Ask for God’s strength in your life today.

—Whitney R. Simpson, Holy Listening with Breath, Body, and the Spirit (Upper Room Books, 2016)

Today’s Breath Prayer

Inhale: Everlasting God,
Exhale: renew my strength.
Join the conversation.

Today’s Scripture

Have you not known? Have you not heard?
The Lord is the everlasting God,
the Creator of the ends of the earth.
He does not faint or grow weary;
his understanding is unsearchable.
He gives power to the faint,
and strengthens the powerless.

—Isaiah 40:28-29 (NRSV)

Yes, Father – renew my physical strength. Be my Healer and may I be returned to strength in Your timing, in Your will. Father – there are other physical needs here in this space – continue to comfort as illness lingers, as fatigue weighs down, as pain crushes. Father – You are our Hope – and we long to feel well and we know how glorious it will be in Heaven with You – with new resurrected bodies which are pain free, cancer free. We long for our Final Home. A home where there will be no more tears of struggle, just thunderous praise. Come quickly, Lord Jesus.
My PCP called late yesterday afternoon (surprisingly) and told me my bloodwork came back very good. Still waiting on the culture. So – I assume that is a positive thing…but still not getting at the problem. Maybe we are making gains, ruling out things. She said possibly today or surely by tomorrow we should have the remainder of the results.
Dad and I are golfing this morning. He is worried about me, keeps saying we can cancel. But golf doesn’t fatigue me. I don’t feel like it is making anything worse. It is good to be spending this time with him – and I know he enjoys it so much. So, we shall play on.

Hello New Every Morning family and friends! I will be starting PT this week, so I am hoping for strength to return to my body as I work my way through the weeks ahead. I am not a yoga type person. To meditate, I have to be laying down. I do sing songs and hymns to God every morning and this has done wonders for my lungs. I live alone, so the quality of my voice doesn’t matter so much and the Lord loves my enthusiasm!

Lucy Lou went to the vet and was only diagnosed with gingivitis. He wants me to brush in her mouth occasionally and we will see how it goes. A cat generally will not allow this, but Lucy Lou puts up with a lot. My Dad’s old car went to the junkyard Saturday and it was sad to see it go. The second car I had in storage was loaned out to someone I thought I could trust last year. The brakes need work, there’s no A/C and it has some other issues.

I was so happy to see you, Robert! And Rick, I am so happy you are here! Prayers for Jill as she waits for her test results. Julie and Megan, so glad you had such wonderful days out. I am on Day 7 in praying a novena for Chai, and also Tazzie’s anxiety. I am thankful for April’s encouraging posts. Praying for Lou, Ally and David, Andrea and all of our family and friends here! Prayers going up to those in the BALCONY and beyond.

Song/hymns for today: Savior, I By Faith Am Touching; Oh What a Wonderful, Wonderful Day; This is Amazing Grace and Fresh Wind, Fresh Fire.

And these three remain: Faith, Hope and Love; and the greatest of these is LOVE! Love to you all who visit here today!

I am so sorry I forgot to thank you all for your prayers. Thank you!

I also forgot to mention that Lucy Lou is also beginning to show signs of asthma. I had another kitty with asthma once, and we just kept an eye on it. That’s what the doctor told me to do with Lucy Lou. She wheezes on occasion and isn’t coughing so I am encouraged.

Still marveling that my computer works as it should. I can type! Thank you Marcy for your welcome back.
Prayers that Jill will soon know what the problem is and treatment can begin. God’s will be done. Thankful for a late birthday and an early father’s day celebration yesterday. Modeling is progressing: painting the GE 70 ton diesel locomotives in their as delivered orange and black livery, figuring the angle iron supports for the two railroad shared water tower, and making progress on a combine and a caboose.
While my computer was being repaired I had a chance to read all of the 1974-1977 correspondence to and from Seoul Foreign School between my parents Soo Ok, and me Hadn’t read this since it was written long ago. It was an important time in our lives. Have more to do in reading that posts here at the UR while I was OFF LINE. Had a wonderful ZOOM worship yesterday, It was our 12th. Prayers for God’s wisdom on how and when to safely reopen with the virus still taking a toll. Prayers for Mary on her mission trip.
Miss others who were regular posters as well. Good health, problems resolved, relationships strengthened and restored, and God’s peace to everyone. Thank You, Lord for all You have done for us and promise to do in the future. You, very thankfully, are with us always..

I need strength, and pray for it every morning. Strength of belief and faith for so many of God’s promises and assurances. Strength of mind and resolution against h and for my own safety. Strength in resolve to stand my ground against h. Strength to deal with Chai’s failing health.
Megan and I spent the day together running errands and getting takeout. Chai’s appetite is waning as his meds have been reduced to once a day. Tazzie seems to be benefiting from the Feliway which is a kitty feel good pheromone that now eminates from several plug in diffusers around the house. H continues to be at me constantly regarding a form I had to sign and have notarized.
Prayers for Jill and her ongoing health issues, may she and her doctor get to the source. May Jill and Larry continue to enjoy golf together and simply enjoy one another’s company.
Prayers for Marcy, so good to “see” her again! May she grow stronger through PT and may Lucy Lou continue to do well.
Prayers for Robert, so good to “see” him as well! Thankful for the unexpected blessing of time to reread old correspondence.
Prayers for Lou and I second her lamentation over so many missing friends such as Connie and Mary, may they join us soon.
Prayers for Rick and his little family, your words inspire me everydayand I envy your patients as I can feel your warmth and compassion through your missives.
Prayers for Ally and David, may they each grow strong and healthy as they continue to recover from such a virulent illness.
Prayers, thank you and good health dear UR one and all

Good morning, all. The Lord is my strength. In my weaknesses, the Lord is strong. God has given me the gift of music and making music is my comfort and strength. Playing piano or guitar or singing hymns helps me to feel strong. Physically, I don’t feel very strong, so I ask God to give me the energy to accomplish my tasks today. The Psalmist tells us in Psalm 40 that God pulled him up out the pit of miry clay and gave him a song to sing. I pray this today for all of us.
David grows stronger and more independent. He still tires easily and can’t stand but for short periods. We are believing for full restoration to his previous level of functioning. God is our healer. One of t he after effects of even mild cases of COVID is debilitating anxiety and fatigue. This is where I am right now. Please pray I will have the energy to do chores after working all day. I’m struggling with this right now. I’m praying about a business opportunity which would allow me a more flexible schedule, making it possible to better care for David. I covet your prayers about this as well.
Robert, I too am praying about our safety. At first of May, our little church set a penciled in date of 06/14. Last week, we decided it is too soon to try and set another. So we continue to worship at home. Though I miss corporate worship and playing for and directing my choir, I have been enjoying our quiet, restful Sundays. Jill, I pray you find answers and healing soon. Thankful that you feel well enough to golf. Marcy, I pray that your PT bears fruit and you find yourself stronger and pain-free. I once tried to brush my dear departed Christy’s teeth, as she had some ongoing dental issues. Praying you have better luck with Lucy than I did. Robert, glad you are progressing with your model trains. That was a hobby of my dad’s. Rick, prayers continue for you and your husband as you adjust to your new city and situation. Also lifting up LC, praying she continues well. Julie, prayers continue for your babies. Lifting up April, Lou, Andrea, and BJ. I pray all is well with them and we hear from them soon. Loving Lord, help us to take time to listen for Your call. Help us to call upon practices which draw us closer to You. Work in our hearts to help us meditate on love as we work for peace and justice. Amen.
