New every morning is your love, great God of light, and all day long you are working for good in the world. Stir up in us desire to serve you, to live peacefully with our neighbors and all your creation, and to devote each day to your Son, our Savior Jesus Christ. Amen.

Today’s Reflection

Aging comes whether I notice it or not. It doesn’t stop to ask for permission. It cannot be turned off like a faucet. Like the waves, it comes continuously and steadily, just as God designed it. Why, then, do I try to stop aging as though it’s a disease from which I need a cure? The rhythm of aging is like the ebb and flow of the sea. In aging, as in life, I’ve experienced undeniable loss and unimaginable blessing; I have felt sorrow and immense joy. . . . The beach calls me to a life of promise. Just as the tide of aging persists, so does the faithfulness of my steadfast God.

Retirement!! Seeing my god children flourish. Hearing from previous students of mine – and their successes. Tracing God’s faithfulness in my life. Beauty of mature relationships.
Today is my god daughter’s bridal shower. The wedding is in July.
Becky and I spent the day together yesterday. I am so fortunate to be in such a good place with her. Grateful how God has changed my heart – and that our relationship is a blessing. She was looking for a small chair for her entryway – and we found one. We had a great lunch, and then I had ice cream, we stopped at a donut shop. We had hoped to hike, but the day turned out gloomy and rainy.

A change of pace, still up early, sometimes in the wee hours, but as nature calls. I’m easy with early to bed, early to rise. Resources come based on past work! Grandchildren!, Bible study that was impossible while I was working. Walks in the woods Time for hobbies and interests. More participation in church. Thank You, Lord.

Aging has found me using a walker device for stability. While in public the courteous willingness of people offering assistance brings joyful hope for humanity to my heart. The loving caring within each human desires expression ! ❤️

A future move to a retirement community which offers many amenities as well as opportunities for new relationships. Feeling at ease and content within myself. An improved understanding of the Bible as well as a thirst to explore God’s word more and understand the meaning behind the words even more fully.

Congratulations, Jill!! I am so happy for you and your decision!!
Time to enjoy family and read and participate in activities other than work. This morning we worked in the yard at our church pulling dandelions. It was a beautiful morning and a way for us to participate in our church besides services. We will continue to weed the yard and work with others on the landscaping to make our church look inviting.
    Blessings to our NEM family.
