Today’s Reflection
When we experience any type of trauma—whether violence, disaster, betrayal, death of a loved one—there may or may not be physical damage and there are varying levels of emotional damage. But it’s a sure thing, always and everywhere, that we experience spiritual damage. The shock and pain of the event pierces our hearts, that central place where we first encountered God’s love and from which all else flows, leaving a wound from which pours our deepest pain.

Today’s Question
Think of a time when your pain made you feel disconnected from God. Who or what helped you remember God’s unending love for you? Join the conversation.
Today’s Scripture
How long, O Lord? Will you forget me forever?
How long will you hide your face from me?
—Psalm 13:1 (NRSVUE)
Prayer for the Week
God of light, help me to speak my truth. Show me how to be still so that I may hear your gentle whisper. In the name of your Son, Jesus Christ, who has the power to heal me. Amen.

Once in my lifetime thus far I’ve come to a point where I had a choice after a very traumatic experience, turn away or turn to God. Thankfully, I chose turn to and that decision has made a great deal of difference. Thank You, Lord. There is only One whom knows me better than anyone else. We may come close with people, and we appreciate their understanding, but God knows best.
A beautiful day, a walk with my friend Russ, and this afternoon the Jelly Makers will have elderberry juice. It has been a very long time since elderberry picking, juicing, and jelly making was a regular event. This is as close as it gets to those days. Thank You, Lord.
