New every morning is your love, great God of light, and all day long you are working for good in the world. Stir up in us desire to serve you, to live peacefully with our neighbors and all your creation, and to devote each day to your Son, our Savior Jesus Christ. Amen.

Today’s Reflection

As we serve from our spiritual gifts, we discover more about God, ourselves, and our relationship with God. We can gain a deeper understanding of the priesthood of all believers. . . . The purpose of our call has two directions. It is first directed toward God and for God’s glory. It is also directed toward our fellow human beings to enable humanity to live its fullest potential with the abundance Jesus spoke of in the Gospel of John (see 10:10).

Appreciating and utilizing the gift(s) God has bestowed on me should yield fruit for the Kingdom of God. I will be encouraged by recognizing that my submission is being used for His glory – and this is the true, lasting abundance which spurs me on. My hope and faith expand and I settle in deeper to living out the live He has ordained for me.
This week went very fast. I didn’t think it was that full, but things seemed to creep in. Good things, but unanticipated. Got my flu shot and covid booster yesterday after school. My arm is pretty sore this morning, but my energy seems good. I didn’t specifically plan anything for today, because I wasn’t sure how I feel. But – the weather is good – so I have some things I will be doing. I need to see my hospice patient and will likely run a few errands that are that direction. I need to do some serious raking in my yard, as lots of leaves came down this week with the snow we had. Those activities will fill my afternoon. And, an extra hour today!!

Yes, using spiritual gifts brings glory to God. Doing the tasks God gives us brings abundant life to us. Thank You, Lord.
I also have had my flu and COVID booster shots. Not sure at the moment what I’ll do today. Possibly a walk with Russ, he and Jean celebrated 67 years together yesterday.
I’m getting better with my train engineer
simulator. Delighted with college hockey scores last night. Enjoying hermit cookies very much like the ones Mom used to bake. Leaves coming down, temps in the 30s – 40s, sun today.
Prayers Jill accomplishes her tasks for the day.
    Thank You, Lord.

By using my spiritual gifts to honor the Lord, I will live my abundant life. He is the one who gives life in abundance and by doing that which he states in the Word, I live a life that pleases the Lord.
Thank you Rusty for your kind words and prayers. Please know that you and K are in my prayers. Your words are a balm to my soul.

I am grateful to each of you who participate in this wonderful community (folks who post and also those who might not post, but who still read and pray) . In one of the spiritual gifts lists in the Bible, beginning at 1 Cor. 12 verse 28, Paul the Apostle speaks of the ability to help others. I believe that gift of helping others is truly abundant here. Thank you and praise God for contributions made in and through this community to abundant life.
