New every morning is your love, great God of light, and all day long you are working for good in the world. Stir up in us desire to serve you, to live peacefully with our neighbors and all your creation, and to devote each day to your Son, our Savior Jesus Christ. Amen.

Today’s Reflection

The most servant-hearted people are often unlikely to toot their own horns. But their stories are beautiful and deserve to be told. At a casual dinner not long ago, I listened in awe as my friend Sam told the others at the table about the faithful and persistent work of his next-door neighbor, who tirelessly directs an after-school program for children in an underserved area. The neighbor would never have mentioned the years of work or the pouring of his own resources into this ministry. He wouldn’t have described himself as selfless or sacrificial or Christlike. But he is, and his story wanted to be told—not to glorify himself but to point to what God can do through everyday disciples.

Today’s Scripture

“Return to your home, and declare how much God has done for you.” So he went away, proclaiming throughout the city how much Jesus had done for him.

Reach out to someone who feels alienated by church.
And to a person exposed to COVID.

I would assume that my caregiving of someone who abused me for 25 years falls under this catagory.
Off to shop with Megan and then she is going to the movies with a friend. I will enjoy a quiet evening at home with my kitties a la Jill.

I volunteered this morning for the final week of this basketball season…it was tournament day. There were three games. One of the coach’s sons…maybe 6 years old – wanted to input the score into the scoreboard. He had been sitting with me the past couple of weeks, but today proclaimed that he wanted to “run the clock”. I did the timing part, but he did the score.
Napped with the kittens this afternoon – while watching some tennis and golf. Will watch some basketball this evening.
Lots of wind here. Becky lost power, but seemed content to stay there, after having her friend visiting all week. She relishes being alone. The “boys” are coming home from Florida Thursday.
