New every morning is your love, great God of light, and all day long you are working for good in the world. Stir up in us desire to serve you, to live peacefully with our neighbors and all your creation, and to devote each day to your Son, our Savior Jesus Christ. Amen.

Today’s Reflection

It’s easy to stay on a superficial level with someone new when we only have passing contact with him or her. Yet it’s also possible to have regular contact with someone for years but not truly meet each other. It may take a change of heart on our part before we can look into each other’s eyes and truly engage in a meaningful way. When we risk letting ourselves be known to each other on a deeper level, it changes us and a new relationship begins. It’s as if we see the face of God in each other.

—Susan Carol Scott, Still Praying After All These Years: Meditations for Later Life (Upper Room Books, 2019)

Today’s Question

With whom might you make a new beginning by changing your attitude toward that person and your relationship with him or her? How might you begin that change? Join the conversation.

Today’s Scripture

Jacob said, “No, please; if I find favor with you, then accept my present from my hand; for truly to see your face is like seeing the face of God—since you have received me with such favor.”
—Genesis 33:10, NRSV

Have been trying all my life to understand, be close to my children. I’d say there’s been limited success, but I keep trying. Looks like good weather for today’s condo association yard clean up. Will be glad when it’s done, lunch with friends today too. ZOOM worship tomorrow, a transition team meeting Monday, Bible study Tuesday, Will catch up with you soon, it’s the only way I know how you are doing. Prayers for all of you. Thank You, Lord.

It is much too late to do this h. But I am contemplating counseling for Megan and I as well as on my own. Megan and I are very close but I feel there are unresolved issues that could and should be addressed with a neutral third party.
Prayers for Robert and his children, may they find greater understanding and a deeper relationship.
Prayers for Ally’s job search and thumb and David’s therapy.
Prayers for April and her family. Prayers for Lou as she makes plans to visit her children.
Prayers for Jill and Larry, may they find time to spend together doing a shared fun activity if they do not golf together.
Prayers for all of the UR and the administrators.

There is much room for growth, improvement, reparation as far as my relationship with my sister. But, she admittedly, does not “go deep” or think deeply. I must accept this about her, as one of our many differences. However, that doesn’t mean my attitude can’t improve, as well as the amount of grace I provide her. Really accepting how she is, and not desiring her to change…and rather asking God to help me change my attitude and acceptance of her will be what brings about change.
Dad is going to watch his great grandson play lacrosse and is going to pick up some Italian on his way home. I will meet him at his house to eat and visit. He mentioned maybe playing 9 holes today as the temperature is moderately comfortable. I have a lot of school work to do – but if he still wants to do it – I will have my clubs in the car. I don’t think he wants to golf tomorrow in the chillier temps. Looking forward to church tomorrow and settling in to a regular routine with that.
