Today’s Reflection
Since we are part of this grand creative cosmology, spring can be a season for our blossoming as well. Like the gardens abounding throughout the earth, the gardens of our souls have organic rhythms—patient fallow times, laborious seed-planting times, and surprising spurts of growth.
—Linda Douty, Rhythms of Growth: 365 Meditations to Nurture the Soul (Upper Room Books, 2014)
Today’s Question
Which “organic rhythm” do you find your soul in right now? Join the conversation.
Today’s Scripture
Consider the lilies, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin; yet I tell you, even Solomon in all his glory was not clothed like one of these.
—Luke 12:27 (NRSV)
Prayer for the Week
Thank you, God, for sun and showers
Thank you for each lovely flower
Thank you for each stately tree
Through all of these, you speak to me.

An interesting question…organic rhythm. I would say a portion of my heart and spirituality is very empty – in that meaningful interaction, both with my students and fellow sojourners, is mostly absent. Church worship time through a screen is just different. I am grateful for it, but it doesn’t seem to deeply satisfy. I find myself being more mindful to be thankful. More appreciative of the time I am able to spend with dad. Grateful for time spent with a friend walking, or dinner outside on a patio. Another rhythm I find myself in is trying to figure out what is happening with my body. Its unpredictability is not impressive, but I try to maintain. I know things could be much worse and am grateful to be pain-free. Trying to take measures to get things to settle down.
Julie – I continue to pray for your safety…physical and emotional. May God protect you and Megan, calming all apprehension. Robert- good to hear of your continued simple pleasures and ability, via technology, to stay engaged with your church. Maybe the boys of summer will be back at it soon for another measure of enjoyment for you.
Father – thank You for this space, where joys and struggles are lifted to You. May You continue to search our hearts and transform us for Your kingdom and glory.
I’m in a holding steady pattern like a plane waiting its turn to land. Thankful I have resources to keep me in the air until safe landing time appears. God made us able to adapt, without that ability we would be long gone. The temporary situation we are in will change for the better, it will just take some time. On average it takes about 9 months for a baby to be born, think of the patience of mothers expecting a child. The vaccine most likely will take longer, until then we need to follow the procedures that definitely benefit us, do all we can to help first line responders, care givers, essential workers, and be patient. It’s not a super difficult task.
Thank you Jill for your prayers, I hope and pray for the best for you are your Dad, Yes, Julie, your safety and well being is always on my mind. Stay safe UR family, do what you can to be there for others. Thank You, Lord for the blessings of the day (yes, even in the pandemic there are blessings)
ZOOM Bible study this morning, overviews of the Gospels of Luke and John as we examine the differences of the 4 gospels.
Good morning New Every Morning family! I really will try hard to get back to comment further today! Meanwhile…….
Read this recently:
There’s a difference between fulfilment and success. You can be successful and yet inwardly bleak because you find life or work unfulfilling. On the other hand, you can be highly fulfilled and not outwardly successful.
Offer your considerable strengths, gifts, talents and, above all, your caring presence to others. Receive what others offer you with gratefulness and childlike joy. Give simply, receive simply. This is not about giving to get something back. This is about letting your inner richness pour through you to others. Never doubt that in giving you are changing this world, one encounter at a time.
“Inspire” comes from the Latin inspirare, meaning breath of life. Every time you and your soul are inspired, something that life has hidden inside you wakes up and recognises itself in something outside you. Nourish yourself with regular inspiration and help others to be inspired, too.
Be back soon, I hope!

My spirit is split so I guess I am in the desolation of winter but at the very beginning of spring. When the promise of better is still out there. Still something in which I can and do believe. But just as spring in nature is elusive, so to is the spring in my soul.
Prayers for Jill as she voices the feelings of so many of us here who are missing in person worship and fellowship.
Prayers for Robert who can always be counted on to remind us of our blessings and to inspire us to see the good only.
Prayers for Marcy and her valiant attempts to stay connected with us by typing which is difficult for her. May God heal her pain and give her rest.
H has settled somewhat, which isn’t musch but still …. Chai has lost his sight and we are taking him to the vet to see why the sudden change. She is concerned it may be blood pressure induced. I think Tazzie is going deaf or is deaf already. So many things to juggle each minute of each day.
Prayers, thank you and stay healthy dear UR one and all
I love this devotional by Linda Douty as she leads us through the year and the seasons of the year. My favorite season is Spring but I think my Spiritual season now is Fall, I look forward to the glorious colors that are brought after the heat of summer and of course there is the harvest before resting during winter. No matter that COVID-19 is here, the seasons come and go to give me a sense of “normal”.
One of my devotional sites is focused on John 3:16 and oh how good it is for me to hear of God’s love for the world. His love was, is, and will forever be. He hears our prayers and is our source of help and healing.
I lift up our UR Family as we share struggles and joys. May He pour out His Blessings and may I see them in my life, He is so good.
