New every morning is your love, great God of light, and all day long you are working for good in the world. Stir up in us desire to serve you, to live peacefully with our neighbors and all your creation, and to devote each day to your Son, our Savior Jesus Christ. Amen.

Today’s Reflection

I have learned the importance of asking God to help us come to know and experience this resurrection love from personal experience. The assurance that I am personally known, accepted, and loved by God has not come easily to me. But over the years, as I immerse myself in Gospel stories like the one with Mary, I have grasped the importance of asking God to give me an awareness of this love, not only in my head but also in my heart.

Today’s Question

How have you grown in your understanding of God’s love for you? Join the conversation.

Today’s Scripture

We have known and believe the love that God has for us. God is love, and those who abide in love abide in God, and God abides in them.
—1 John 4:16 (NRSV)

Prayer for the Week

God of Compassion, we offer you our tears—tears of release, tears of grief, tears of joy. Receive them in love, and reveal to us the healing they can bring. Amen. Submit your prayer to The Upper Room.

I have come to feel confident that God is with me always. Scripture says nothing can separate us from the love of God. I believe that. Will heck posts from earlier this week on my computer, haven’t figured out how to do that on my iPhone. Enjoying the hymns in the Lenten study. Thank You, Lord for music and lyrics that help us be in touch with you.

I’m still working on this. As the author alluded to, I am still in the stage of knowing it in my head but not my heart.
I told h about the windows which of course he was not happy about. Primarily because we owe a lot to the IRS. He was unaware that social security is taxable income.
Prayers for Ally, David, Jeremy and Scout, may the Lord be with David as he approaches his biopsy and may all go well. Prayers for April as she cares for another of God’s children, bless her richly. Prayers for Jill and Roger, prays of thanks that Jill and her students are remaining masked. Prayers for Robert and his move, may all go smoothly. Prayers for all who visit here.

I want to say yes. I know that I am more aware of God’s love and God’s presence. I have a somewhat better understanding of how grace works. But I feel I have a long way to go. I’m thankful for God’s love and grace.
Robert, I too am thankful for the promise that nothing can separate us from the love of God. Praying for you as you prepare for your eventual move. Prayers for April, that God will give her what she needs in her role as caregiver and that she has someone to minister to her. Prayers for Jill as she and Larry find ways to stay connected. Prayers for school day and for staff and students as they go unmasked. May all stay safe and well. Prayers that a new food helps stabilize little Roger’s blood sugars. Prayers for Julie, that God gives her grace and strength in dealing with h and that needed work gets done on their house. Prayers for her health and that she will experience healing. Thank You God, for our NEM family. Help us to trust you in these scary times. Thanks to you all for your prayers for David and me. God is near, even when it feels He is silent. Love to all!

My understanding has broadened to the extent that I can recognize His love and faithfulness in the trials and valleys. The undercurrent of peace makes the hard times bearable, and focusing on the “light and momentary”-ness encourages me to keep my eyes on Him, on His Word. Hard times are still hard, but knowing He suffered and calls us to enter into suffering…trusting His providential care to see us through and to grow us to be more like His Son if we seek that.
Such truth spoken here – April – thank you so much for sharing your word “come”. I love the simplicity of it…will take it into my time tomorrow morning. And, yes, Ally – He is near – even and ESPECIALLY – when it feels He is silent.
Lovely sunshine and warm temps here yesterday and today – so much so that windows and doors were open when I got home yesterday and I will open them again today when I get home. I took a walk after dinner last night, just so pleasantly comfortable out. School seems really busy, I don’t know why my grading and stacks of paper seem larger. Yesterday afternoon was a very gratifying time with both of my classes. A joy – and I am grateful.
Thank you for sharing your concerns here – I am praying along with others.
