New every morning is your love, great God of light, and all day long you are working for good in the world. Stir up in us desire to serve you, to live peacefully with our neighbors and all your creation, and to devote each day to your Son, our Savior Jesus Christ. Amen.

Today’s Reflection

We cultivate a scriptural imagination in community, among a chorus of complementary voices and a diversity of spiritual gifts.

The scriptures are intended to be read in community, with others. This community includes the women and men with whom we gather, and of course they will bring their life experiences, which will at times call for celebration and at other times concern. But the community is also a communion of saints that reaches back in time, to the apostles, martyrs, saints, mystics, prophets, evangelists, and reformers.

Today’s Scripture

Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly; teach and admonish one another in all wisdom; and with gratitude in your hearts sing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs to God.

Reading and sharing, discussion follows, and understanding grows. Thank You, Lord. Learning more about the life of John Wesley and the beginnings of Methodism, preparing for worship this Sunday. Indigenous People day, all sorts of thoughts, concerns, mistakes arise. Thankfully attitudes toward them are improving, but more needs to be done. Our coordinating pastor begins today. Frost last night. Fall colors all around. Thank You, Lord

I haven’t done this in a long time. I enjoyed the discussion when I was part of a Bible study group.
I spent the day with Megan yesterday. We had so many errands to run there was little time left to browse Barnes and Noble which is one of our favorite activities. We bought a new hand held vacuum because the kitties like to spew their litter all over. The kittens are now “teenagers” and as such have been very naughty lately. Baby Shark is very long and can reach things that are on the wall in displays. He has been stealing them and ripping them and trying to eat them.
Prayers for Ally and David, for improved health and finances. Prayers for Jill and her family and Lou and her family. Prayers for Robert as he prepares another church message. Prayers for the new coordinating pastor, may she be a good fit with the congregation and be warmly welcomed by all.

A practice I found new with my current church’s small groups is reading a passage and just pulling observations from it. Many of the ladies are into circling, underlining, highlighting…really digging in to Scripture. I don’t tend to do that, but I do enjoy reading the week’s passage from various translations. We are asked to come with 6 observations, I maybe have 2 or 3. It is enlightening to hear what others pull from the Word.
A beautiful fall day here, more brilliant blue sky. I was late getting up this morning, so I didn’t get my run in. Will be going out for an extra long walk here in a bit. One more beautiful day tomorrow and then the bottom falls out. Looks like it is going to be splendid in Florida when I get there.
Ally, continuing to pray for your health, so that you will be able to assist David and take care of the many tasks around the house. Hoping his PT is a significant help.
