New every morning is your love, great God of light, and all day long you are working for good in the world. Stir up in us desire to serve you, to live peacefully with our neighbors and all your creation, and to devote each day to your Son, our Savior Jesus Christ. Amen.

Today’s Reflection

Part of learning to pray continually is to stay open in prayer. Sometimes after we say amen, we check off prayer on our to-do list and shut down the conversation. But God has invited us—called us—to pray without ceasing, to keep the conversation going all day, every day. The hymn “What a Friend We Have in Jesus” is absolutely correct: “What a privilege to carry every thing to God in prayer!”

—Jenny Youngman, Scrambled Starts: Family Prayers for Morning, Bedtime, and Everything In-Between (Upper Room Books, 2015)

Today’s Question

How might your “amen” become an invitation to continue praying throughout the day?

As best as I know, “amen” means so be it. The need for prayer is continuous for new reasons to thank God and express our concerns just keep coming up . The need for “so be it” continues.
Bible study this morning and the condo goes on the market this afternoon. Prayers that we are headed in the right direction. Thank You, Lord.

Yes – there is a need, and at times a recognized desire – to be in prayer throughout the day. Yet – I look at today – it seems like a blur – and I honestly did not even think about “dropping in” on God. Much intentionality would need to be in place in order to make this more habitual.
Was able to see Paper 2 for both of the courses – and feel that it was fair. Speaking with my students – I don’t believed they did well, up to their potential. The level of apathy with these students – due to the pandemic – was something I had not seen in teaching these courses for 22 years. I need to put it behind me, and renew my focus on my current year 1 students. The one course is the best I had in my 22 years in this program – they continue to strive and achieve.
Tennis was enjoyable last night, despite losing in a very close match. If the tennis is that good all summer – it won’t matter the win/loss record. Trying to take that attitude into each match.
Concerning to not hear from Julie now for a few days. But the Lord’s eye is on His sparrow.

Saying Amen doesn’t mean “the end”. The conversation between God and me continues if I keep my heart open and listen. I usually have to remind myself of this. Hope all are well. Be blessed v
