Today’s Reflection
A retreat is a period of new boundary creation. We take time to pray; we take time to walk; we slow down; we turn off our cell phones. After a few days, or even a few hours, we feel different. We are more relaxed; we breathe; we feel at peace; even the colors around us appear more vivid. . . .
The practice of boundary creation mimics the process of a retreat: We begin to shift what we give our pearls and our holiness—our time, our presence, our selves—to. To do this, we must recognize our inherent value and the value of our time and presence. One of the ways the boundaries of the world keep us trapped is by convincing us that we lack pearls and holiness. I often ask people if they ever consider that being with them is an incredible gift and that people are lucky when they get to spend time with them. Almost one hundred percent of the time, this thought has never crossed their minds. If you do not believe you have any pearls or holiness to give, you do not worry about wasting them!

I need to spend more time in conversation with Erich. What is happening is a one sided talk by him. When we work together the desired results appear. Thank You, Lord, for yesterday’s phone conversation with Erich, Jenny, and me. Moving forward there are three priority projects.
Safe travels for Jill, her Dad, and beach house friends. Slowly I’m catching up with NEM friends.
Thank You, Lord.
Time is my most precious commodity. I am trying to be less selfish with it. I can luxuriate in just being at home with my kittens, not worried about time it is and just wasting the day away. The flip side of that is the time that I do devote to something other than myself – I want it to be significant. Useful, meaningful to another. I feel like this began to take shape almost 10 years ago when I started working with the teen moms. That was way out of my comfort zone. It became a very good thing. I am hoping my new “not yet my comfort zone” proves to be even better and lasts much longer in duration.
One exam down, one more to go Thursday morning. Lots of treasurer stuff to take care of today – glad to have an ample space of time to do it.
Off to spiritual direction and then a tennis match. The arrow is pointing up!
