New every morning is your love, great God of light, and all day long you are working for good in the world. Stir up in us desire to serve you, to live peacefully with our neighbors and all your creation, and to devote each day to your Son, our Savior Jesus Christ. Amen.

Today’s Reflection

God asks us, “What is your name?” When we face up to ourselves before God, along with whatever other blessings we may receive, we are always given a new identity. This new identity tells us that no matter who we are or what we have done, God has a new future for us. We are not defined forever by our past sins and failures. As someone once said to me, “Trevor, a new name can make you a new person.”

Today’s Scripture

But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s own people, in order that you may proclaim the mighty acts of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.
—1 Peter 2:9 (NRSV)

I don’t have a definitive answer to today’s question. Yes, there have been changes in me in the last 24 years, hopefully more positive than negative. Life is a struggle to the very end. I continue to remain positive as I see no other way to live. I make mistakes, but God helps me up again. The weather is cooling down and less humid. That’s very welcome. Car maintenance this morning and a check on dental care. Be safe, prayers for health, welfare, family and friends, and all your needs.
    Thank You, Lord.

Whew, I’m glad Robert posted first because my thoughts are much the same. I know I have changed, but how this has translated to my life, I’m less sure about.
Reading my old post that was part of yesterday’s blooper was saddening. Tazzie and Chai were still with us and I miss them so much. The two new boys went to the vet on Tuesday and received clean bills of health. However, we were still in the midst of the pandemic and that is sobering as no end seems in sight. At that time we thought the vaccines being developed would put an end to the nightmare. (and God laughs at our naivety).
Prayers for Ally’s and David’s and Brad’s health issues and finances. Prayers for Jill, Larry and Roger’s health issues and Larry’s COVID test and a definitve diagnosis. Prayers for Lou and her daughter, may her daughter’s mental health improve with her therapist. Prayers for Robert and Erich and their counseling, may Erich’s mental health improve with his therapy. Prayers for Marti and staff. Thank you for your prayers and may God bless all who visit here.

Utterly transformed. I have peace, oh yes, peace like a river. I have a desire to honor and glorify Him. I pray so that I am changed, not to change Him. I read to know more about Him, for the Spirit to speak through The Word. I serve, realizing that but for the grace of God, there go I. I gather with other Believers – because I gain insight from them, am spurred on by their courageousness, am buoyed by their encouragement and prayers.
I spoke with dad – he won’t receive results until Monday, unless he tests positive – in which case he will hear tomorrow. We have cancelled dinner tonight. I placed an order to a Mexican restaurant near my school – for which a student gave me a gift card – and will carry out my dinner this evening. I am going to stop by the pet store and get Roger some more food which has seafood in it and clear broth.
May God be near to each of us, hearing us in our concern-filled prayers.
    Come quickly, Lord Jesus.
