New every morning is your love, great God of light, and all day long you are working for good in the world. Stir up in us desire to serve you, to live peacefully with our neighbors and all your creation, and to devote each day to your Son, our Savior Jesus Christ. Amen.

Today’s Reflection

Where is my faith when I need it? I thought of the tiny globe on a gold chain in my jewel box, a mustard seed inside. A gift from Grandma Watrous. That’s what I need, I told myself, faith like Grandma’s. A mustard seed of stuff powerful enough to move this mountain.

Today’s Scripture

He said to them, “Because of your little faith. For truly I tell you, if you have faith the size of a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you.”
—Matthew 17:20 (NRSV)

Where is faith when we need it- we need faith ALL the time. I have been focused on several devotionals and meditations this week. I feel like I am “working” hard on something – not sure. Trying to let go of the past and trying to heal old wounds – my faith will see me through- I am so thankful and grateful to the saints that have gone before me- leading the way- my grand parents / parents / aunts and uncles – people of strong faith- they helped grow my faith.
Prayers for Julie – I know you are worried – have faith and believe – God is with you.
Prayers for Robert- we are all concerned about his absence from this place.
Prayers for Jill, April, Allie, Rick and all of the UR faithful – God is with you
    Amen

A relatively newer member of the cancer support group, who joined just to companion others on this difficult road, brought packets which she gave to everyone – each one contained one mustard seed. Stapled to the see through tiny packet was the verse referencing a mustard seed’s amount of faith. It sits very near my Bible on my bookshelf. God will grow that faith – we must trust, or merely desire to trust. He can do great things.
Glad the work week is behind me and the next few weeks hold many meetings and changes. Buckle up.
My sister and I were able to get dad to leave for Florida 6 days earlier than planned. I switched his ticket today, so he will be flying south a week from Sunday. A change of scenery will do him VERY well.
Tennis match this evening and vaccination tomorrow morning.

The mustard seed reminds me that in my weakness, the Lord is strong. Though I feel small in the scheme of things, my little scrap Of faith I hold onto can move mountains. Lord, sometimes I need the confidence of this precept. Help me, Lord. I met with David’s therapy team yesterday and they are pleased with his progress. His pain is decreasing, he is walking better with the assistance of walker, needs less assistance with ADLS, is doing better with transfers from chair to bed and back, and from sitting to standing. We are thankful for each milestone and appreciate your prayers. Please pray for my kitty Lewis. Got him to the vet today. His vet thought it best to keep him overnight because he has a upper respiratory thing and is on strong IV antibiotics. I’m so worried and David is as well. Lou, thanks so much for praying for all of us and for the reassurance God is near. My prayers are with you. Jill, praying the change of scene does Larry good and that vaccine after effects will be minimal for you. Julie, my prayers are with you through the divorce process. Praying God gives you what you need on your journey. I too am very concerned about Robert and pray for his safety and wellness. Love all of you and pray we all feel the nearness of the Lord.

I have always loved the mustard seed lesson. I am so happy to see it today!! It is a visible example of how large the mustard tree can grow from its seed if we nourish and care for it, believe in/perform our actions day by day, and the possibilities God has designed it with. This encourages me to keep going even when the way is hard and the outcome is not certain.
Daffodils are blooming, birds are singing, no need to wear a coat. I feel like spring is really coming after a long winter of weather and Covid.
The posts that we write remind me of texts that come to my phone. It may be only a few words, but they touch me and say hi, I’m thinking of you. Short prayers during the day to God might be similar. And God’s wink of a thought, a sunrise, or a warm breeze reminds me that He is always with me. Blessings dear UR Family as we head into the weekend, especially Sunday when we can rest.
