New every morning is your love, great God of light, and all day long you are working for good in the world. Stir up in us desire to serve you, to live peacefully with our neighbors and all your creation, and to devote each day to your Son, our Savior Jesus Christ. Amen.

Today’s Reflection

The LYRE is a small ten-string harp that reminds us of David and his ability to soothe with music. . . .

Add music to your life. What music soothes you? Intentionally choose music that gives you joy—good lyrics, brilliant instrumentals. Let music be God speaking to you this week.

Today’s Scripture

Whenever the evil spirit from God affected Saul, David would take the lyre and play it. Then Saul would relax and feel better, and the evil spirit would leave him alone.

Jireh by Elevation worship and Maverick City Music-
    I’m already loved
    I’m already chosen
    I know who I am
    I know what you’ve spoken
    I’m already loved
    More than I can imagine

    And that is enough.

This is my favorite current praise song- I can listen to it over and over – God loves me and I am enough- I don’t have to do anything or prove anything- he loves me and the at is all I need.
Thankful for my children- and time spent with them- I don’t take that for granted. Glad to get back to my work that I love and my own little routine. I’m helping my son move this weekend and going to NYC next weekend to be with my youngest. I pray continually for strength and peace. May God bless you all with strength and peace today and everyday. I’m praying for this community.

Love divine all loves excelling, a mighty fortress, amazing grace, how great thou art, sweet hour of prayer, I come to the garden alone. These and many more hymns reveal God. The music that enables us to hear these words is God imaging as well.
Trying to resolve some issues with appliances and get a new coat of paint on the deck. Have a showing on Thursday. Am very much interested in reducing the price in view of inflation, higher interest. Want someone to be able to afford their purchase and help us move as well.
    Lovely weather here this week.
Bible study at 9:30, Jesus’s farewell in the Gospel of John.
Blessings and Prayers to and for the NEM family
    Thank You, Lord!

Love the lyrics to your song, Lou!! All of your favorites, Robert, are some of mine too.. it is amazing how healing/comforting music is. Our church makes it a point of sharing incredible music at each service. Flute, trumpets, saxophone-clarinet duets, all instruments that praise the Lord.
Praying for our NEM family. Grateful for this day

Christa Wells’ music really speaks to me. I discovered her when mom was in the midst of her struggle. This week I have been listening to the playlist I made of my favorites from her CDs…and have been playing it on repeat. The song “One Day” is touching me anew this week…”one day, one breath, one prayer, one thing at a time…one word, one step, one hope…in a coming light, don’t try to swallow the ocean, keep doing one day, until one day you’re free. I see you laughing on the other side, where the walls have tumbled and the flowers grow wild. I see you laughing on the other side, with your broken heart under open sky.”
Met a friend for an early dinner after school and now home to feed Roger and do some yard work. I always have a good thinking session while mowing my yard. A lovely evening with comfortable temps.
Robert – I remember when my grandmother and I would listen to music on her 8 track tape player – one of her favorite songs was “I come to the garden alone” – thanks for reviving a wonderful memory for me.

Hello all, in reading yesterday’s entry, I put together some thoughts about seeing God in art. I am a frustrated artist: not really much good, but doing art is something I enjoy. Our library has an art station set up with different themes each month. Last month, materials were put out to make visual poems. So I made one with clips cut from magazines about saying goodbye to the house where I grew up. It helped me realize that though our sweet little yellow house has been sold, no one can take away our memories. Those cannot be sold. God was present in our lament and our grief as God is always present. I also thought of Guernica, Picasso’s work to memorialize the tragedy of a town’s destruction in the Spanish Civil War. It is a picture of brokenness and disorder. Even in the midst of horror, like that taking place in Ukraine, God provides healing and brings order where there is disorder through people who are helping the refugees. I hope this makes sense.
As to music, in my capacity as a music therapist, I have seen music bring calm and provide solace. I have seen it bring great joy. I see God in the hymns I love: “there’s a wideness in God’s mercy”. “That Christ has regarded my helpless estate and has shed His own blood for my soul. It is well with my soul”. I love hymns!
I’m navigating this appeal process and am thankful for an attorney that is local. I just heard about the school shooting in Texas. When will people say, enouth? Thanks to all for your prayers and know y’all are in mine. Blessings to all.
