New every morning is your love, great God of light, and all day long you are working for good in the world. Stir up in us desire to serve you, to live peacefully with our neighbors and all your creation, and to devote each day to your Son, our Savior Jesus Christ. Amen.

Today’s Reflection

All my life, I have been so devoted to caring for others that I have often neglected my own needs. Loving my old soul means having compassion for my frail and feeble state. It’s time to be good to myself, accepting my frailty, forgiving myself for wrongs I have done to others and the foolish choices I made in my life.

—Richard L. Morgan, Light of Setting Suns: Reflecting on Realities and Mysteries at Ninety Years of Life (Upper Room Books, 2021)

Today’s Question

Today’s Scripture

“You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your strength, and with all your mind; and your neighbor as yourself.”
—Luke 10:27, NRSV

Prayer for the Week

Lord of all ages, I feel blessed that you have given me these

Renewed contact with New Every Morning, participation in three church ministries every week, walks in the Mount Washington Valley, modeling trains, Face Time with my daughter and activities with my son all help me be good to myself. So glad for the reconnection, somehow changing my email address had an effect and my messages were all under “moderation”. I found your posts when I searched, but you didn’t see mine. I was present but unseen. Thank you for prayers, concern, and wishes for my return. I’m very humbled. Prayers Marcy’s health and well-being, Julie’s court proceedings, safety, and healing, Ally & David’s health, income and concerns for family, Lou , her empty nest, and children., Jill, her health, school, and Dad ,travel to Florida, April, former regular posters, Asian- Americans, the pandemic coming to an end, and Holy Week approaching. Thank You, Lord for the blessings of the day.

As I do not have faith that my comments will post each day, I will post in several short snippets. This way only a fraction will be lost.
I need to start therapy in order to heal my soul and self. I also need to fiind a church where I feel accepted.

Prayers for Robert and nice of you to explain what precipitated your absence, I will keep in mind not to change my email.
Prayers for Jill and Larry. May both find renewal, Larry in Florida and Jill in the classroom.
Prayers for Lou and her family and April and her family.
Prayers for Ally and David and kitty Lewis. May the continued therapy further strengthen Larry and may Ally’s GI issues be reduced. May kitty Lewis recover with his new antibiotic. Since he is on antibiotics his stomach may be unsettled. Tazzie took Ondansatron (sp) when he wasn’t eating. Also we used a humidifier when Tazzie had his respiratory illness and he loved it!
    Prayers for the UR administrators

So good to see Robert’s post first thing this morning!! Welcome back…we missed you.
What am I doing to be good to myself? I take a walk everyday and observe the scenery and breathe the fresh air. I watch for the changing of the seasons and realize how happy I am. I have just started doing online yoga/Pilates classes again in midmorning. I am continuing to read the Bible from front to back in Chronological order….I am in Judges now and read of Deborah. I am amazed how much I enjoy the history lessons I am learning —again—but as an older adult. Last night I was encouraged to read the Collect for Purity. We say it before communion but I so thought of how important it is to pray it often and I have it bookmarked so that I can. I am making taking good care of myself my job….physical, emotional, and spiritual.
I have always said that when I have time I will devote more of it to praying….well, I am not doing as well as I wish but God is helping me remember as I wake in the middle of the night and just start praying, lifting up names and world situations and praising Him for His faithfulness. As I pray, I relax and soon am asleep again. I don’t need all the details of what to pray for, God knows them better than I do.
Today is a rainy day so I will be praying for our UR Family. Blessings to All….we are each Beloved Children of God.
