New every morning is your love, great God of light, and all day long you are working for good in the world. Stir up in us desire to serve you, to live peacefully with our neighbors and all your creation, and to devote each day to your Son, our Savior Jesus Christ. Amen.

Today’s Reflection

The reign of God expands at a slow pace because it grows at the speed of love. Love takes time. God’s reign, like walking, is slow. You cannot hurry it any more than you can hurry the unfolding of a rose’s petals. Life unfolds from within. No technological enhancement or quick fix can speed its arrival. Walking as a spiritual practice requires that we move attentively, receptively, mindfully through the present moment as if it were the only moment that matters because it is the moment in which we encounter the God who walks with us.

—Thomas R. Hawkins, Every Step a Prayer: Walking as Spiritual Practice (Upper Room Books, 2016)

Today’s Question

What might you experience by moving at the slow speed of love today? Join the conversation.

Today’s Scripture

Love is patient; love is kind; love is not envious or boastful or arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice in wrongdoing, but rejoices in the truth. It bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.
—1 Corinthians 13:4-7 (NRSV)

Prayer for the Week

Out on snow shoe trails yesterday there were times when iI was hemmed in on two sides by evergreens that kept out the sun, then came deciduous trees an the light streamed in. They were the places where I wanted to and did stop. I was thankful to be able to see better. I could take pictures. I surely enjoyed the beauty of the snow covered forest. Thank You, Lord. Zoom worship today . Julie,Megan,Jill,Larry, Ally&David, Lou, and the NEM family are in my prayers.

I have no choice but to move at a slow pace with my leg hurting so much. I would usually be out and about but this leg issue has me homeboundd while Megan spends the day with her father. So I will also do Zoom worship today.
Prayers for Ally and David and Jeremy as well as Roger for improved health. Prayers for Jill’s friend and her daughter. Prayers for Robert and his church.
Thank you for your prayers and may God bless all who visit here.

Moving at a slower speed – I would make more personal contact with people. Conversations would be enhanced, eye contact would linger, a space for love and honesty would exist.
Dad and I went to church this morning, in spite of the deteriorating conditions. When I went out for my run around 7:00, the main streets were clear. By the time I left to get dad – 8:30, main streets were snowy and slick. I took it slow and with minimal traffic, got around ok. Attendance was very sparse. Conditions worsened afterwards – but made it home ok. The message continued on 1 Peter – and our attitude in the midst of suffering. Dad was tearful when we got in the car – as it made him think of mom. And he muttered – those 60 days when she just laid there in bed. It was very discouraging that she had no hope, nor would she allow any word of hope to be spoken.
Just got in from shoveling my driveway. The snow was much fluffier this time around, and not nearly as deep. Gonna sit down and watch some football and crack open my school bag.

Hello all, I’ve been sort of incognito. Just checking in to let you know I’m ok. Have had a really bad tooth and have been in a lot of pain. I’ve been pretty loopy due to pain meds. I’m better now and will be back with y’all this week. You are in my prayers.
