New every morning is your love, great God of light, and all day long you are working for good in the world. Stir up in us desire to serve you, to live peacefully with our neighbors and all your creation, and to devote each day to your Son, our Savior Jesus Christ. Amen.

Today’s Reflection

Wait for the LORD;

be strong, and let your heart

take courage;

wait for the LORD!

—Psalm 27:14

—Pamela C. Hawkins, The Awkward Season: Prayers for Lent
(Upper Room Books, 2009)

Today’s Question

What can you do to encourage yourself to wait for the Lord? Join the conversation.

Today’s Scripture

[God] will swallow up death forever. The Lord God will wipe tears from every face;

he will remove his people’s disgrace from off the whole earth, for the Lord has spoken.
They will say on that day,

“Look! This is our God,

for whom we have waited—and he has saved us!
—Isaiah 25:8-9 (CEB)

Prayer for the Week

O loving Christ who waits for us all to move forward, to change inward, to love outward. Wait now with me as I long and learn to become more like you. Guide me to wait with the lost, to stand with the weak, to have a heart for the brokenhearted. Amen.

    Be strong, be still, be quiet and trust in Him. Waiting is not easy – but we have to trust and be still. Hard things for me to do lately- but this is a good reminder – I need daily reminders when I wander at times.
    Prayers for all here today-
    So sorry about the loss of your beloved pet Ally- trying times for you. Trust and wait on the Lord. Prayers for Robert, Jill, Julie, Gail, Rick, April and all those who come to this place.

    I’m good when I know things are inevitable and time is relative. As in, God’s kingdom will come and his time is infinite and not based on human time concepts. I do not look for his time to be in my lifetime.
    H is deteriorating dementia wise. He still gets around well but his mind is going more and more. Thank goodness he is still capable enough to maintain his morning routine unassisted.

    I can encourage myself with verses/promises from Scripture. I can recite His faithfulness to me.
    Another March week in the books. Things seemed busy today, which helped the day go by quickly. A fair amount of students out ill…maybe a late winter bug going around.
    Glad to come home after school and call it a week. I got out for a walk after dinner, reluctantly. But – tomorrow is supposed to be rainy and windy all day – so I forced myself to do it.
    Becky and I are going to be spending some time together again tomorrow. She is volunteering at the church tomorrow where I volunteer with the basketball league. We will come back to my house afterwards, and likely order in pizza.

    Reading words of scripture that demonstrate how God’s people waited encourage me to do the same. A good friend from church is helping David and me figure out a budget. Pray for us.
