New every morning is your love, great God of light, and all day long you are working for good in the world. Stir up in us desire to serve you, to live peacefully with our neighbors and all your creation, and to devote each day to your Son, our Savior Jesus Christ. Amen.

Today’s Reflection

Developing a new ministry must begin with a clear personal and corporate sense of identity that is deeply rooted in the gospel. Identity is where Jesus began, and identity is the wellspring from which all other efforts and plans pour forth. The entire Sermon on the Mount of Jesus in Matthew is a survey of identity markers for kingdom people and well worth a regular reading. That self-awareness that we are given in the kingdom is a rich and beautiful picture.

Today’s Question

Today’s Scripture

“You are the salt of the earth. . . . You are the light of the world.”
—Matthew 5:13-14, NIV

Prayer for the Week

God of love,
plant me in the soil of your grace.
Nurture me with the strength of Christ,
the vine of everlasting life.
Enlighten me with the wisdom of your Spirit,
which flows through me today and all days.
Abide in me,
that I may abide in you
and live in your love.
In your holy name, I pray. Amen.

I have not thought of this before. I agree that in ministries this makes sense. I don’t see how it relates to my hobby. Prayers that access to guns be more regulated. Will murders, deaths be stopped? Sadly, no, but there surely will be a decrease. May the Lord bless you and keep you in everything you do, this day, and always.Thank You, Lord.

I, too, am flummoxed by this question. I see its value in church planting but not so far in my life. Though I know how I interact with the world is based as my identity as a follower of Jesus.
Prayers for Robert and I add my prayers to his regarding gun control as well as the overwhelming number of gun deaths.
Prayers for Ally’s broken thumb, may the pain lessen and may it heal well and quickly. Prayers for David as he no longer will be receiving home health care. Thank you for your response to my inquiry. I will try to find this version of the Bible.
Prayers for Jill and Larry, may they stay safe in Florida.
Prayers for Lou and her family, may they rejoice in their long awaited reunion.

The only way I know to interpret the question is, “if I identify as a kingdom person, do I allow that to guide my decisions?”. Often when I pray, I feel God nudging me to seek God’s wisdom. Lord, thank You for Your grace and Your wisdom. Thanks for your prayers, everyone. Limiting my typing today, as my hand is hurting. I pray all feel God’s love and seek God’s wisdom today.
