Today’s Reflection
Approach the Bible as a friend who wants to give you a gift with no strings attached, a gift that shows that your friend really gets you, really knows your pain, and really loves you. Come to the Bible with healthy doses of critical thinking and respect for what its stories can teach you. Come ready to receive self-awareness. If you’ve ever looked at the Bible as a list of rules, an unreasonable, outdated, patriarchal document, or a collection of fictional stories, that is fine. Try to read it one more time with the expectation that it may also teach you something about yourself.

My goal is daily. I use The Upper Room Disciplines.
I didn’t comment yesterday, so I’m including my favorite Bible stories today. My favorite is the story of Mary visiting Elizabeth after the Angel came to her with news of her pregnancy with Jesus. I would have loved to be party to their conversations. I also love the stories in Acts about the establishment of the early church.
Re: today’s reading: o try to read, meditate , and study each day. Sometimes I miss a day.
We said goodbye to Scout Finch 7 weeks ago yesterday, and said goodbye to Lewis 3 weeks ago today. Making a home for Patsy has helped us get through the loss of 2 kitties so close together. Patsy is learning to trust us and enjoys playing with her brothers. She loves to eat and has the loudest voice I’ve ever heard. She is very content on the knowledge she has a home with people who love her.
We saw dr. yesterday for David’s toe. He got antibiotic and an ointment and is to soak his foot twice daily in warm water and eps salts. He doesn’t want to do this. I assured him if Will help it heal, reduce inflammation, and make it feel better. He’s stubborn. Thanks to all for your prayers for us.
Our weekly Bible study does a wonderful job of this. The pastor in charge of our small groups gives us 5-6 questions per week on our passage, at least 2 of which are application questions. He also does a 20 minute teaching video where he covers the passage and at the end has some life applications points for us to consider and potentially incorporate into our discussion time.
I spent the afternoon with Becky – did some shopping and had a nice lunch. They will be coming to my house tomorrow afternoon to play some cards and have pizza for dinner before going to her grandson’s lacrosse game. It is supposed to be another beautiful day – I may go to the game with them.
Small group tonight. Next week we are gathering in person for dinner prior to study time.
Ally – continuing to pray for David, as he tries to overcome these obstacles in his recovery. I bet lil’ Patsy is much enjoying the attention and affection she is getting from you both.
