Today’s Reflection
With grateful thanks
We receive the bounty of this earth.
Giver of plenty,
You are the source of
Plants and meat,
Milk and herbs,
Clean water and safe homes.
Bless this harvest,
Its beautiful colors.
Bless this bounty,
Its nourishing substance.
Bless the livestock
And those who keep them.
Bless the farmers, the workers,
The gleaners, far and near.
Bless the hungry,
Those who have no homes,
Those displaced by drought or violence.
Give succor to the people in their need.
Bless this world and all its creatures.
All that we are,
All that we have,
Are gifts of your creation.

I will be going out for my morning walk here soon. My walk will begin with gratitude for the light in which I walk…much different from the darkness of my 5:30 walks before school. I will look at the trees – now mostly stark, but a few with some leaves stubbornly hanging on. I will ask God to show me my stubbornness and seek His forgiveness and assistance in unprying my greedy hands. I will look for the ever industrious squirrels, darting here and there – and ask God to energize me for efforts he has planned for me.
Prayers of thanksgiving for encouragement, words and thoughts shared here. May God bless the time we will spend with loved ones this day. For relationships that are hard, may there be an extra measure of grace we unconditionally extend. For loved ones no longer with us – may we be sensitive to those still deeply mourning their absences. May compassion be our first and only response in our conversations.
Father God – thank You for another Thanksgiving. You are prepping us for the unimaginable Thanksgiving celebration which will extend through all eternity, in the home You are preparing for us. Come quickly, Lord Jesus. Until then, may we be Your light in our little section of the world. Sustain, each day, each moment.
Praying for you, Ally – the circumstances of the week.
Amen.
