Today’s Reflection
The Bible shows us again and again that God’s love is meant to be felt and lived on a daily basis. We have to find ways for our belief and faith to enter into our lives and lift the burdens of pain, stress, anxiety, and guilt. One way to do this could be writing our own psalms, through which we can interact with scripture and with God.

Today’s Scripture
All you people: Trust in him at all times!
Pour out your hearts before him!
God is our refuge!

IF is the biggest little word in English. I’m not a prose writer beyond emails, letters, and occasional articles. Psalms are poetry, far beyond my skill. Those who can put the spirit into words have a great gift. I do know that God is love and that love ie ever present and ever lasting. Thank You, Lord.
I would pout out my emotional pain, seeking His guidance and healing. I would end with thanksgiving for His love and His help.
My psalm would begin by thanking God, simply for being God. Our inner most being craves God in all the many ways we know Divine presence. Then I would ask the Holy One to nudge me throughout each day to see Presence in everything. Glorious joy everywhere. Theto help me be function as a spreader of God’s grace into the world. I would end my psalm by drawing in close to Godself, resting and literally breathing Gratitude.
This was something introduced to me during Covid. There was an online lunch Bible break – and we were in the Psalms. One day we were given time to write our own lament Psalm.
What I have taken to this summer is writing blessings. I have been so moved by the blessings written by Kate Bowler that I started penning my own. It has been very therapeutic.
Robert, thank you for your comments from yesterday. I am so grateful I have been able to remain active through all of this. My issue is I cannot be seated without being in pain. It baffles my physical therapist…that I can play tennis for 2 hours pain free, run 5 miles each morning pain free. But, as soon as I sit, there is discomfort. And it escalates throughout the day – as my sit time increases. I purchased a raised desk for work and being at school I can control my sit time. This summer – with driving dad here and there, roadtrips, airplane rides, etc – the sitting time has been increased and inconsistent. The ultrasound showed that all the inflammation is back in my butt – despite the surgeries cleaning it out.
Dad and I will have our last round of golf this afternoon, as school is next week and they are heading South for a few months.
