Today’s Reflection
If we dare to sing “He Leadeth Me,” we dare to realize that God doesn’t ask us to behave or stay out of trouble. Congressman John Lewis always said we should get into some “good trouble.” I wonder if he knew Bonhoeffer’s thought that our goodness can actually block us from God’s will. It’s not about keeping our hands clean. It’s about getting them dirty for God in the real world to work for change on God’s good earth. Being led in this way really is a “blessed thought.”

Today’s Scripture
[The Lord] leads me beside still waters;
he restores my soul
He leads me in right paths
for his name’s sake.

This would be against my nature. I do not like to stand out or cause turmoil.
H had a difficult night and so I had a difficult morning with him. When I woke up at 5 he was downstairs talking. I came down to find him wearing the shoes he wore to work, a coat and carrying an umbrella and a set of clean clothes. He said he was waiting to be taken to the house across the street. It did not get better. He has showered, had his morning meds and eaten breakfast and I have sent him to bed. His neurologist said I could give him melatonin to help him sleep and I will ask Megan to pick some up and I’ll try it tonight. Please pray.
Yes, we have so many opportunities to stir up some “good trouble” – by making others potentially uncomfortable with how we live, how we love, how we represent Him. I believe we should cause others to be uncomfortable by the “aroma” we put off. We should cause them to be reflective of themselves and inquisitive about us – our joy, our contentment, our faith-fueled way of facing each day.
A sun filled day here, although breezy and cold. Still, the sun just makes the day brighter – in many ways.
The day at school is shaping up well. A meeting this morning was cancelled, providing me more time to do my treasurer work and some planning. My first afternoon class has a test and the other one is preparing for a test – so, should be smooth sailing.
Another evening at home to look forward to – with no commitments after school.
