New every morning is your love, great God of light, and all day long you are working for good in the world. Stir up in us desire to serve you, to live peacefully with our neighbors and all your creation, and to devote each day to your Son, our Savior Jesus Christ. Amen.

Today’s Reflection

We remain connected to the vine because that is the way we bear fruit. And here, the inward spiritual grace becomes an outward and visible sign. The natural consequence of a healthy root taking in nutrients is that it produces something wonderful. It bears fruit.

Today’s Scripture

I am the vine, you are the branches. Those who abide in me and I in them bear much fruit, because apart from me you can do nothing.

I believe the companionship and comfort I am giving to dad is evidence of fruit and connection to God. Also, stepping out of my introverted nature to share at small group. Hopefully my daily interactions with students is laced with God-honoring love.
I haven’t yet become concerned about the corona-virus. But it seems more and more pre-cautions are being taken by many organizations and groups. Being on a drug which suppresses my immune system – I have been very fortunate these past few years. I will try to remain diligent in my cleanliness and vigilant in my actions – and trust my welfare to my Heavenly Father.

Connection to God produces fruit with my moms prayer group- I’ve been working to encourage us to expand our discussions and prayers beyond our prayers and concerns for our children and this has been very fruitful for us all. My children I hope also witness my faith and strong connection and dedication and I hope this encourages them also to follow Jesus.
Prayers for our world as we are experiencing incredible times – trust in our Lord as Jill stated- that He will provide and take care of us all.
Prayers for my son as he is struggling with some issues in his life, prayers for my youngest traveling home and the uncertainties of what the future holds regarding her college classes which has been very stressful for her, and finally prayers for my oldest daughter teaching young children daily who are also stressed and fearful. Bless us all and have mercy dear Lord.
    Amen.

Yes, showing my faith for all to see and praying for many I meet, these are how I try to bear fruit. My daughter does not believe but she doesnot not believe either. She is respectful to all.
Prayers for Jill as she support Larry, may they find solace and healing within their close relationahip.
Prayers for Lou and her children, may her youngest arrive home safely.
Prayers for Robert, may his periodonist appointment go well (or gone well).
Prayers for Rick as he continues to attend class, may his health remain strong as he comes into close contact with fellow students and teachers.
Prayers for the little children who are undoubtably bewildered. May some trusted adult take the time to answer their questions and calm their fears.
The UR people are doing a good job of tying the Devotional topic and the New Every Morning topic to one another. The Devotional scripture reading included the verse quoted above. The two writers wrote similar missives for us to follow.
    Prayers and thank you UR

I strive to be the hands and feet of Jesus, in all my interactions, some days I fall short. School has kept me so busy and at times stressed, but my hope comes from the Lord. I must also admit that being a nurse and having sometimes too much knowledge can be a double edged sword. These times present new and uncharted waters for many and with trying to be prepared and vigilant in the face of this pandemic, is frightening and brings concerns both for those affected and for what may come. These last few days have been stressful. As classes are going online starting this coming week to reduce unnecessary possible exposure, it is challenging at best. I am just doing my best to be cautious yet not allow fear to creep in and steel my peace and joy. 1 John 4:18 There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love. A verse that has come to my mind a few times this week has helped me to trust God and let go.

Keeping you all in my thoughts and prayers and for those affected around the world.

    Blessings

    Rick
