New every morning is your love, great God of light, and all day long you are working for good in the world. Stir up in us desire to serve you, to live peacefully with our neighbors and all your creation, and to devote each day to your Son, our Savior Jesus Christ. Amen.

Today’s Reflection

The world desperately needs strong finishers to show others how to age faithfully. Do not waste a moment of your late life. Consider that your divine assignment in late life is threefold: to grow in relationship with God, to serve others with humility, and to glorify God in all that you do.

In what tangible ways will you complete that assignment today?

Today’s Scripture

I am confident of this, that the one who began a good work among you will bring it to completion by the day of Jesus Christ.

Prayer for the Week

Gracious God, open our eyes to see the gifts in this season of life. May we seek your wisdom and pursue our holy purpose with authentic hearts. Amen.

Something More

In his new book, Everyday Contemplative: The Way of Prayerful Living, Roger Owens invites us to pay attention to our longings and desires. In this brief exercise, he offers scripture, questions for reflection, and a journal prompt so that we might become more aware of our deepening longing for God.

Starting my day with this reflection, worshiping God at today’s service, and helping my son on his life’s journey are ways I can complete today’s assignment. Thankful for a safe trip home yesterday and a good night’s sleep. Zoom worship is a blessing on a cold windy day, there will be a guest pastor to lead worship. Preparation for Tuesday’s Bible study and purchase of the book we’ll use for Lent are also among today’s tasks. I have many articles that my son has found to read. There’s a need to catch up with NEM posts. Blessings to all of you on this Sunday. God is with us always and love never ends. Thank You, Lord.

Yes, just as Robert mentioned, reading UR Devotional and NEM, reading the Bible, attending Zoom service of church and helping my daughter along in her life journey is my response to the question.
Yesterday while running errands, a man took a step backward without looking first and stepped right in my path and tripped me. Since I am still unsteady on my feet, I was unable to regain my balance and fell down. I went flat out but my left knee took the biggest hit. I am able to walk but it hurts to bend and I cannot use it on the stairs. Also yesterday was Megan’s birthday. She wanted a cake from a certain store and we picked it up yesterday as well.
Prayers for Ally, for positive legal issue resolution and for health and financial improvements. Prayers for Jill and Roger, for improved control of diabetes and for successful tennis. Prayers for Lou’s children who are evaluating life changes, may they seek God’s will. Prayers for Robert and Erich and for his church, may there be healing between Robert Erich and a new pastor for the church. Thank you for your prayers and may God bless all who visit here.

Today, I will engage in the little things: prepare a nice meal, check on some friends via phone and text, worship on our own. As I Pray, I will ponder scriptures and seek discernment and wisdom. God has been working in my life regarding the issues of forgiveness and extending grace. The flesh is weak here and the spirit not too willing. Lord, I ask you to begin this work in me.

This evening my church is hosting a panel discussion with several counselors – the topic being anxiety and our youth. Parents and teens are encouraged to attend. I spoke with my friend whose daughter remains in a program several states away, if she was planning on coming tonight. She said she was and asked if I was coming. I told her I would pick her up. She found out this week that her daughter’s stay has been extended at least through the end of March and they are still on covid lockdown so my friend can’t even see her on weekends if she was up there. Even if she finishes the “program” by the end of March, there will still be an out patient component. I am sure we will speak more this evening. Her heart is hurting so much for her girl.
My friend with the dogs, slipped on black ice while out with the dogs and broke three ribs. I went over and did some minor errands for her today and picked up an early dinner. She is pretty sore and tries not to move too much. Yet, she has a hard time getting comfortable seated or horizontal.
Beautiful sunshine and warm temperatures. Almost 50. Still a strong wind. Even warmer temps the next couple of days. Hoping to get out for a run tomorrow morning, as the winds subside. My doubles partner and I lost in the finals last night – which still qualifies us for the national competition we attended last year. As of right now, we are not going to go again this year. It is in California again. I just can’t make that commitment with Roger right now and she needs to be close to home as her dad is having health problems. We aren’t completely closing the door, but not making plans.
