Today’s Reflection
SABBATH AS COMMUNITY arrives when we find ourselves sitting with one another in shared awe and wonder, marveling at what it means to be present. It is then that we connect ourselves to the divine mystery of sabbath, when God showed us how to cease from our work in order to actually enjoy creation—together.
—J. Dana Trent, For Sabbath’s Sake: Embracing Your Need for Rest, Worship, and Community (Upper Room Books, 2017)

Just a few weeks ago when I took a few days from school and extended a long weekend – to be with family and to be in warmth. The beach, the sea-shore…the sounds, sights (COLORS!) and scents…so unique, so soothing to my soul. I am fortunate and grateful to have been able to do this. Also, to be able to have done this three times with mom and dad. Photos have popped up the last few weeks on Facebook – “memories” – of pictures of us together there. I look at our smiles – and know, that while mom struggled with depression and darkness, I believe she had times where she was indeed happy – and those included times when she was with family.
My god-daughter’s team fought hard last evening, but just didn’t have enough height, nor athleticism to keep up with the other team. There were many tears, but they should be proud of themselves and grateful for their closeness. While I enjoyed so much being able to attend both her and her brother’s games – it will be nice to have that extra time to just be at home, and settle into a more steady routine.
Welcome to March – may we ponder and seek His desires for us this Lenten, Spring season.
I’ve been doing a bit of that in between classes on campus. It sits up on the Mesa. The campus is beautiful especially as our season of Spring begins. The budding trees and seasonal array of color has burst with the recent warm weather. We attended service this morning and had time for fellowship after. It was a restful morning.
Blessings to all this first Sunday in lent.

I usually take walks with the major idea of exercising. Today on my walk I instead looked at creation and had some aha moments as the birds were singing and I imagined what the trees will soon look like with their leaves. It was a wonderful change from being in the house.
This week’s emphasis on Sabbath was thought provoking for me. The sermon today was on resilience. I have connected these two together as a wink from God….what it all means, I am not sure, but I am listening and watching for God to lead me day by day.
Blessings to all who come to this sight…..may we all be drawn closer to God in this time of Lent.
Here in the Mount Washington Valley of NH God’s creation rises up all around us. You get. start on appreciating creation just looking out of the window. Walks and hikes add to that.
Yes, prayers for a meaningful LENT, God’s healing and guidance through the coronavirus, wisdom through the election season, and help with life’s problems and concerns. Marcy, Julie, Mary, Jill, Lou, Betsy, April, Edy, Andrea, Rick, Darr, Rusty and the UR oasis are in my prayers.
