New every morning is your love, great God of light, and all day long you are working for good in the world. Stir up in us desire to serve you, to live peacefully with our neighbors and all your creation, and to devote each day to your Son, our Savior Jesus Christ. Amen.

Today’s Reflection

The word discipleship and the word discipline are the same word—that has always fascinated me. Once we have made the choice to say, “Yes, I want to follow Jesus,” the question is, “What disciplines will help me remain faithful to that choice?” If we want to be disciples of Jesus, we have to live a disciplined life.

Today’s Scripture

For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline.

QT here at the Upper Room, worship, praise and thanksgiving, Bible or book study, and fellowship are spiritual disciplines that help me.
CCUMC continues. Administratively we are a very small entity. Prayers that actions we take will help increase our size and help our future.
Thankful for wonderful meals, a good walk, wonderful pictures from the past, and endearing drama on PB yesterday. Amazing events at the Bills-Pats game yesterday.
Prayers for Ally and David, Julie, Megan and H, Jill, Becky, Larry and Don.
May bipartisanship help the US move forward and solve problems long ignored.
    Thank You, Lord

Reading the Bible and Bible study, praying, church and the NEM and devotional reading help me stay close to God.
Speent the day yesterday at church and coffee hour. I baked a small snack cake to share there. People enjoyed it and asked for the recipe. I walked around a store I do not get to go to often and had a wonderful conversation with a friend. Came home to a confused h. He has been asking about “the other house” and when do we go there. Obviously we do not own another house.
I would like recommendations for faith based podcasts if anyone here listens to any. Thank you.

A daily commitment to being in the Word and praying are essential to keeping me “on track”. Additionally, I have incorporated memorization the past few years. I also listen to faith based podcasts when out walking.
So, about those podcasts, Julie…”Nothing Is Wasted” , “The Next Right Thing” and “Prayers of Rest” are my three main podcasts. “Prayers of Rest” – I try to incorporate this once a week during my time in the morning.
We received word last night around 7:20 that a tentative agreement had been reached and we were to report to our schools for a “regular” school day. It was a relief and joy to be in class, as usual, this morning. The union will vote to accept the ratification tomorrow evening. Our negotiating team fought hard for us. We got what we wanted in terms of the language needed to help us feel protected from violence, as well as a pretty hefty raise – higher than I have ever received in the 28 years I have been in this system. Very grateful.
