New every morning is your love, great God of light, and all day long you are working for good in the world. Stir up in us desire to serve you, to live peacefully with our neighbors and all your creation, and to devote each day to your Son, our Savior Jesus Christ. Amen.

Today’s Reflection

Days of searching, praying, questioning.
Conversations with friends, family.
Reading the Bible.
Silence.

I’m trying to listen; I need to hear from you.
God, I’ve been asked to make a very difficult choice.
Rather than let my ego decide, I thought I’d listen
to you.
Someone called this process “discernment,”
but it’s not working, God. Please talk to me!

I am in agony. All I hear is silence.
My prayers bounce off the ceiling.
The deadline is fast approaching.
I’ll be forced to make a decision on my own.

When I stopped fighting and demanding,
your message hovered over me with clarity
like the air after a morning shower.
I knew what you wanted me to do.
It was a gift, and I thank you. Amen.

Today’s Scripture

And this is my prayer, that your love may overflow more and more with knowledge and full insight to help you to determine what is best, so that in the day of Christ you may be pure and blameless.

I’m trying to remember such a situation, why I’m having such a hard time with this I have no idea. I do remember turning to God when Soo Ok passed away.

So glad to have my computer back. I missed two ZOOM church meetings, the New Every Morning Reflection and email messages. Catching up takes time. It requires concentrated effort.

Prayers for the right decisions and actions after the events not only in Washington DC but around the country related to the election and the same is true for the pandemic with cases and deaths soaring even though vaccine has been distributed. People need to be vaccinated. Lord, without You the problems this country currently faces would be, actually seem overwhelming. With You there is hope. Thank You, Lord.

I am currently trying quiet reflection and journaling. I am adding these to my past practices of Bible reading, praying and seeking advice from those in a position to give it based on the issue.
Each of the prayers this week have touched my heart and spoken to me and so I ordered this book. It will be added to the other books that I intend to get into this year. This is the one resolution that remains elusive. Unlike other years I have been successful in following through with most of the others.
Prayers of thankfulness for Robert’s resolved computer issues and his comments were sorely missed.
Prayers for Jill and her student. Prayers of thankfulness that one of her students and she had a heart to heart which quieted Jill’s heart, mind and soul and also resulted in personal growth for the student.

I connect with Him in prayer and in times of trying to still my mind. “Be still and know.” Part of my prayer is recognition that He already sees the end game, the end result. And proclaiming my assuredness that He will be with me through it all. At times, I will ask others to join in with me in prayer, or even to pray for me, as words are elusive. I trust the interceding Jesus is doing on my behalf, as well as the Holy Spirit. I think He also recognizes my prayers are just an airing out, my own human weakness and perspective – and while they might be specific and direct – I know He is sovereign.’
Schoolwork and football today, lots of both. Packing up my schoolwork and heading to my friend’s for a change of scenery. She and her dogs will be a welcome change. Also, will watch my god-daughter’s basketball game from there.
