New every morning is your love, great God of light, and all day long you are working for good in the world. Stir up in us desire to serve you, to live peacefully with our neighbors and all your creation, and to devote each day to your Son, our Savior Jesus Christ. Amen.

Today’s Reflection

When faced with a decision, what if you asked God to be with you in the outcome of your decision? . . . If you have prayerfully considered all the alternatives and have made what you judge to be the best choice and if you have prayerfully offered that choice to God, you can let go of the worry. Having given the decision to God, now is the time for you to LGLG [Let Go and Let God]. Let it go and get on with your life, certain that God will be working for good.

—Patricia Wilson, Freedom from Worry: 28 Days of Prayer (Upper Room Books, 2012)

Despite the frustrations my son feels and expresses I do believe that he has also provided very good cognitive behavioral therapy for both of us. God is working through him and he doesn’t know it. I’m thankful for this therapy, it is doing what all of the previous efforts have failed to do. I have more to do to finish it, but the approach and thoroughness impresses me. Home today after a wonderful stay with Jenny, Willa, Oona, and Chris. Church tomorrow, worship team meeting on Monday, book discussion on Tuesday.. More CBT every day.
Prayers for Julie’s health, care for h; Jill’s summer activities and family, Ally&David’s financial concerns and David’s recovery, April’s care giving and loved one, Lou, her children, Mom, home, and work, Rick and Scott in CA, and ALL who come to this oasis. Thank You, Lord.

I have some very important decisions to make and I pray for God to be in my decision and to help me live after the decision is made. As the reflection above advises I will seek God to be with me going forward, whatever my decision.
Prayers for Robert’s safe travel and CBT work with Erich. Prayers for Jill’s health. Prayers for Ally and David’s health and finances.

It is usually in the little things, but sometimes in big things, that I see God at work. Then there are the times it is hard to see. Sometimes, I’m better at trusting that God is working, than I am others.
Not sure when David is coming home. He’s made wonderful progress in therapy. We hope to hear Monday about a discharge date. Please continue to lift us up. My kitty Scout is doing pretty well. Her GI issues seem better. Please lift up our other senior kitty, Lewis. He’s had ongoing respiratory issues and saw his vet Twice over last 2 weeks. He is on some strong antibiotics and an appetite stimulant. Please pray for his healing and restoration of health. I’m a worried kitty mama.
Robert, prayers for you and Erich as you go through CBT together. Prayers that Erich will see God at work in his life. Prayers for your church as you move forward in ministry together. Julie, Prayers as you seek God: that God will give you wisdom and discernment. Grace too, as you contemplate what is best for you. Jill, praying for your body to heal. Prayers for your family and relationships as well. I know you miss your sweet buddy Roger. May your memories of him bring you comfort.
May we let go of our worries and trust God, who is working even when it’s hard for us to see.

I notice Him working, as the Spirit will bring a verse to mind in a time of need. The Spirit helps me recognize poor thoughts and I have the desire to re-route. I have very negative conversations/comments in my head when playing tennis with my doubles partner of 25+ years. I know I am being negative and I criticize myself for being negative, yet – my first reaction is negative. Thank goodness my mouth is shut, but I know there are times she catches my body language. Playing on these other teams has helped with this this season. Honestly, we are like an old married tennis couple, and tennis divorce just isn’t on the table.
Got to walk around the art show today with my former student who is recovering so well from her uterine cancer. She just started a new job – she is a very successful lawyer. She is looking well, her hair is growing back nicely. Her mother remains on the kidney transplant list.
Got in both the art show and tennis before the rain arrived.
Robert – glad your trip was safe and that you had time with your family. Julie, praying you on as you progress down this road with h. Good to hear from you Ally. Continued prayers for David and a hopefully soon return home and for Lewis. Oh the joy and heart tugs these kitties have on us.
