New every morning is your love, great God of light, and all day long you are working for good in the world. Stir up in us desire to serve you, to live peacefully with our neighbors and all your creation, and to devote each day to your Son, our Savior Jesus Christ. Amen.

Today’s Reflection

As I began speaking to scripture, it began to speak to me. I am not saying that I started receiving answers to all of life’s problems. I still worried about being a good enough person. Past mistakes or hurts still bothered me. I still wondered where God was during painful experiences. But I truly felt in conversation with God while I took part in my own spiritual growth and understanding. I found myself drawn further into the mystery of Christian faith, further away from certitude, and closer to a life with scripture I had always longed for but had not believed possible. I discovered room in my relationship with God for faith, reason, and imagination.

A member of our Bible study has suggested a book that helps understand the context of scripture, I think that will be helpful to discover new depths to my relationship with God. Thank You, Lord.
Having a good time with my granddaughters, Willa and Oona, Jenny makes great Korean food. Off to the Dutchess County Fair today. The girls are all excited.

Robert, David and I have recently discovered Korean food. A Korean restaurant has opened in our downtown, and has some of the best food I have ever tasted.

Paul writes in his letter to Timothy that all scripture is God-breathed. In addition to scripture being inspired by God, perhaps it is living and breathing. Interacting with Scripture in a new way May the the ting thst opens up my relationship with God to new depths. New insights may keep scripture alive in my heart.
I’m in annual in-service training for work and on my lunch break. Being away from my worksite is a nice change, with all that has been going on. Today’s UR devotional gave me courage. God spoke through the experiences of the writer.

I don’t have an answer to this question. I would like to, as I believe there is much more depth to achieve. Until I have an idea, I will continue doing what I am doing.
I did my first bedside vigil sitting yesterday. At the end the family arrived. I found out this morning they were with the patient when he passed. Such grief and emotions. I met the hospice chaplain – and she is incredible. I see so much why my very first patient liked her and enjoyed her visits. I was also happy to meet the social worker.
Golfed with dad today – a very cool day for August. Wore sweatshirt with a fleece over it. Thankfully the sun was out. We will golf one more time this summer – on Friday.
