Today’s Reflection
From my support group and interaction with other caregivers I know people are eager to help one another. They do not hide their lamp under a bushel but offer it up to light the difficult, stony, uncertain paths of others. Their gifts are humble and seemingly insignificant to someone who has never “walked the walk.” There is no self-aggrandizement in any form. Their servant job is a powerful equalizer opening them to hospitality toward everyone. I think we might add a beatitude to the Sermon on the Mount: Blessed are the caregivers, for they reflect the Lamplight of God’s love and generosity.

Prayer for the Week
God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change,
Courage to change those things I can,
And wisdom to know the difference.

At on e church we worked as team and third shared the load, my sister and I did the same caring for Mom.
At church and wishing begins soon. Hopefully more later today
Thus shared the load.
Wonderful prayer time in early Methodist tradition, had a love feast, service followed by a luncheon. Wonderful good.
Hope to plan services through Christmas at the worship team meeting tomorrow.
Changes in the weather have both my son and I and our cat , Pearl, making adjustments.
Blessings to you all. Thank You, Lord.
Other caregivers demonstrated to me how to pace oneself, show compassion for the receiver as well as for oneself, and how to be attentive to self care. I learned an awful lot “on the job” as well. I hope to pay it forward, as I can.
I spoke with my friend this morning. I can tell she is doing all right, but is very weary. She has been surrounded by family and her oldest daughter has been very present for her. Things seem to have gone well amongst her sisters as they held vigil at their mother’s bedside. My friend was there with her mom as she breathed her last, she even had her hand on her heart for the last beat.
Church was meaningful and needed this morning, and the music just right. Enjoyed the afternoon with my god children at their birthday party. But, I must say – I look at my friend and her husband and they are acting like everything is just fine. Of course they would in that setting. They are a lovely family with a lovely home. But the reality is, it is very broken. And it saddens me. My god daughter was unusually affectionate with me – and I sure appreciate it. She may just be buttering me up as she is taking a Stats course and said she might be reaching out to me this semester.
A meeting at church this evening. My friend has asked me to co-facilitate our small group and the meeting tonight is for all the leaders to meet and greet and get some resources to help us with the Fall study.
Today’s reading ended with the statement, “Blessed are the caregivers”. I wish I felt the blessings today. I know they are there. I’m thankful for the caregivers and others who express support.
David is getting around well with the walker, but still experiencing swelling in his ankles and feet. He keeps them elevated cost of the time. He is urinating a lot and despite this, still retaining fluid. I find this concerning and plan to call our primary care physician tomorrow. I’m pretty worn out, but made it to church today. I know God is present, but feel pretty overwhelmed. Financially, we are struggling more, due to the added expense of incontinence supplies, which are very expensive. We thank you for your prayers. Know that I hold all of you close to my heart in prayer. Sharing our burdens can take us outside ourselves. I’m grateful for thst , and for my friends here.
I’m thinking of ordering this book.
