Today’s Reflection
Nothing that happens to us is ever lost. In God’s ecosystem, everything in our lives, even the worst experiences, can teach us about eternal love and draw us toward God’s purposes. . . .
All our experiences are part of preparing us for our journey toward God. The moment we turn toward our Bethlehem, toward what God is calling us to be and to do, God’s power cooperates fully with our desire. Even before that moment, according to John Wesley’s theology, God works in us to create the desire that launches us on the journey. Before we are even conscious of God’s activity in the world and in us, God the opportunist uses our every impulse toward wholeness to inch into our thoughts and our lives. God is at work preparing us and “preparing the way” before we even realize there’s a journey to be made.

God is present and God cares. Turn to God and receive the gift of God’s love. Thank You, Lord.
In the teens last night, high today 28, a cloudy morning and sunny afternoon.
The third Sunday in Advent approaches. Blessings to all NEM.
My life has been filled with “worst experiences.” Most have made my spiritual life more difficult to attain. I do not understand “a father’s love” as I have never experienced such a thing. I have expereinced many near death health difficulties. I have had a life filled with pain and trauma. So I wait and hope.
The worst experience in my life was probably my divorce as I never felt more abandoned, alone and betrayed and lied to than I did then. It’s hard to believe that was 6 years ago. It’s been very difficult but what I learned more than anything was that I am never alone when I lean into God’s love which is always there waiting for me. His grace is sufficient and His love is more than I could ever hope for. All I have to do is release what I am carrying and accept it. I’m not always good at that – but He is always there waiting for me.
The experience was my wife’s diagnosis with a life long neuro-degenerative disease. This took place in our early 40’s. The lesson in God’s love was that that he changed my heart and led me to Christianity exactly 6 months *before* K’s diagnosis.
God, of course, knew what was coming. He prepared me to cope when we found out and to meaningfully support her by filling me with his love.
