New every morning is your love, great God of light, and all day long you are working for good in the world. Stir up in us desire to serve you, to live peacefully with our neighbors and all your creation, and to devote each day to your Son, our Savior Jesus Christ. Amen.

Today’s Reflection

Admitting the reality of our weaknesses is the first and most important step on the journey toward change. Without it there can be little progress. This admission includes, as we have seen, facing up to our limited ability to change ourselves. Taking this step seldom comes easily. It requires great courage, humility, and honesty. And we will most likely have to take it more than once.

—Trevor Hudson, One Day at a Time: Discovering the Freedom of 12-Step Spirituality (Upper Room Books, 2007)

Today’s Scripture

I do not understand what I do. For what I want to do I do not do, but what I hate I do. . . . For I know that good itself does not dwell in me, that is, in my sinful nature. For I have the desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out.
—Romans 7:15, 18 (NIV)

Prayer for the Week

Dear God, I admit that I cannot live life on my own power. I trust that you love me and want what is best for me. Please help me each day to seek your guidance, to love other people, and to live in a way that pleases you. Amen. Submit your prayer to The Upper Room.

Right off the top of my head I find it hard to be very specific, but I’m sure this has happened many times. Thankfully I’m still trying. I must say that the book, Conversations with God, is both supportive, sometimes seemingly contrary, but ultimately in agreement that God is love and love is all important. Lots of answers to age old questions are given. Some seem unexpectedly contradictory to what I’ve learned, been taught, but seem to make sense, provide better understanding. Still I’m a bit wobbly.
The weather has cooled down to highs in the lower 80s. Had a little rain, could use more.
Worship team – congregation meeting last night met with a helpful pastor, some important issues discussed, hopefully solutions will be found, worship planned for August. Down the road there will be a certified lay pastor . In the meantime we continue as we we have with a combination of local laity and Zoom or in person
guest pastors.Tom, Our retired tech person had successful surgery yesterday, awaiting the pathology report about the mass that was removed. That report will help determine the next steps . Prayers for Nancy in hospice near the end of earthly life. Thank You, Lord for tg blessings of the day.

Every day I pray for patience and forebearance with h. I am extremely patient in most situation that are not h related. But I seem to never have patience with h. I know it is because of the abuse he pertpetrated against me for 25 years and I am working in therapy to not be so short with him. Today I see the gynecologist for my annual checkup.
Prayers for Ally’s disability benefits approval and her health and fiscal wellbeing, prayers for David’s rehab release, prayers for their kitties health, prayers for Jill’s body to heal during this week of rest, prayers for Robert’s church as it continues to operate without a pastor, prayers for the person who had colon surgery, prayers for Nancy as she is soon to be united with God.

I feel my weaknesses are many. I give up when things don’t go the way I think they should. I try to ask God to give me perseverance and for His strength when I am weak, and to keep going when the road is rough.
Thanks to all for your prayers these past weeks. David’s last day of therapy is Friday. Hopefully he will be home Monday.
Know that I love you all and hold your concern and needs close to my heart. Blessings to all.
