New every morning is your love, great God of light, and all day long you are working for good in the world. Stir up in us desire to serve you, to live peacefully with our neighbors and all your creation, and to devote each day to your Son, our Savior Jesus Christ. Amen.

Today’s Reflection

SCRIPTURE HOLDS metaphor, parable, and paradox to add depth to our stories and to enlarge our view of who God is and what God is doing in the world. This is not complexity for complexity’s sake; the reality of God is greater than what we as humans can understand. Metaphor, parable, and paradox acknowledge our human limitations while at the same time offering us a means of transcending them.

—Michael E. Williams, Spoken into Being: Divine Encounters Through Story (Upper Room Books, 2017)

Today’s Question

Which scripture passages enlarge your view of God? Share your thoughts.

Today’s Scripture

“For my thoughts are not your thoughts,
nor are your ways my ways, says the LORD.
For as the heavens are higher than the earth,
so are my ways higher than your ways
and my thoughts than your thoughts.”
—Isaiah 55:8-9 (NRSV)

Prayer for the Week

I love to tell the story
For those who know it best
Seem hungering and thirsting
To hear it like the rest.

In the beginning God made… (Genesis 1:1)

When I read the passages in the New Testament discussing the Trinity. When Jesus says that He is in the Father and the Father is in Him. Also as He speaks of the Holy Spirit as being Him with His followers after He goes to be with His Father.
I am now to receive a new bottle of medication. This one is less potent (20mg vs 25mg) and should include 60 pills. We’ll see….
The Sight Psalm was beautiful today and indicted me with the words with it, “It is not enough to stare up at the steps, we must step up the stairs.” by Vaclav Havel. I need to oversome my overwhelming fear of being judged lacking in ability to contribute due to my Reynaud’s.
Prayers for April, Betsy and Lou. Prayers for healing for Andrea, Connie and Marcy and Larry.
Prayers for R Martin Armstrong and his comments which are informative.
Prayers for BJ and her mother and their closeness.
Prayers for Mary and her close relationship with Molly.
Prayers for Jill and Larry, may she be recharged in Larry’s absence and may he recover from C-diff quickly.

    Thanks Julie!

May your body respond well to your new medicine!

    Psalm 68:35
You, God, are awesome in your sanctuary; the God of Israel gives power and strength to his people. Praise be to God!

The above scriptures enlarge my view of God.

    Blessings!

Good morning, UR family! May your well-being be blessed and in the favor of God today. Hebrews 11:6 says, “But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.” Ain’t God good? “Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning” James 1:17. If a gift is good, it ultimately comes from God – the unchanging God. May we continue to to seek God in prayer. May I be remined that in Isaiah 40:31, it says, “But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.” Seeing God in our day provides us the hope that he will make a way. I pray that we all be ready when Jesus come. Julie, may you continue to trust in God and you will be supplied with everything you need to endure doing struggling times. May we all trust in God and not with our own strength. I love you, UR family!

    I love the stories of:
The young boy with the 5 loaves and 2 fishes
The woman that knew if she touched the hem of Jesus’s robe she would be healed
    How Jesus calmed the storm
I could go on and on….the Bible shows example after example of faith.
Thank you dear UR family for your constant prayers each and every day….there will never be a day like today…it is a present….
    Blessings!!

I don’t know scripture well enough to list or quote passages for today’s
question without doing some research. Looking at the suggestions given, I can surely agree with them, some are new and some are familiar. God sent His only begotten Son to save us from our sins. Thank You, Lord.
