Today’s Reflection
EXHALING IS the letting go of the chaos and clutter in our lives. These distractions drain us and create a barrier between God and us. If we are cocreators, the exhale of sabbath gives us the space and refreshment for the inhale of creativity.
—Valerie K. Isenhower, Meditation on Both Sides of the Camera: A Spiritual Journey in Photography (Upper Room Books, 2012)
Today’s Question

Today’s Scripture
“The LORD is my shepherd, I shall not want.
He makes me lie down in green pastures;
he leads me beside still waters;
he restores my soul.”

I don’t understand exhaling Sabbath. I think I want to inhale Sabbath and let it support me during the week.
I will return this afternoon when there are more posts and I can also examine earlier posts.
Blessings to all the UR family!
Good morning, UR family! Prayers and blessings to you on this day. May God continue to lead you and guide you and show you His way. Remember without Him we are nothing. “TO GOD BE THE GLORY” Robert, I assume Erich has stopped making apple pies. He was on my mind yesterday. Jill, how is Roger? Julie, may your well being continue to succeed. God is an on time God. May this Sabbath Day bring all of you much love and peace. May the Lord bless you and keep you. I really, really, love this UR family!
I think it is the exhaling of all that keeps us from God- the clutter and chaos in our minds that keeps us from staying focused on what is the one true way. I often stray in the struggle of trying to make sense sometimes of a world that is broken and bitter and doesn’t make sense if we just focus on the temporary earthly life that sometimes threatens to overwhelm. I need to constantly recenter and focus on the eternal, on my Savior, on the one true way. On this sabbath I exhale the evil and the distractions and I breathe in the breath of God. I pray for Him to help see us through these trying days.
Prayers for all the UR faithful.
Blessings to all on this sabbath day.
Today I exhale hate and prejudice. Today is one year since the massacre of 13 innocent Jewish people in this city known for love and acceptance and kindness. We are stronger than hate. Thank you Mr Rogers.
Thank you Upperroom family,I’ve been reading this almost daily since 2014. While I don’t always have time to read all the personal posts daily I do try. You have all been such a blessing to me and I continue to gown in my faith and witness. I will continue to keep you all in my prayers. One of my daily practices is prayer and Meditation. One of my favorite things to do before is to sit quietly and begin to breath in the Breath of God and exhale all that blocks me from Christ Jesus. I often reflect on the daily readings or Abide.
Blessings,
Likewise, Rick! There is joy in communicating with this group.
