New every morning is your love, great God of light, and all day long you are working for good in the world. Stir up in us desire to serve you, to live peacefully with our neighbors and all your creation, and to devote each day to your Son, our Savior Jesus Christ. Amen.

Today’s Reflection

PART OF BEING an artist and co-creator with God comes in giving ourselves time and space to listen for the movement of the Spirit. We set time aside for paying attention to the interior movement, to the place where we connect with the Creator.

—Valerie K. Isenhower, Meditation on Both Sides of the Camera: A Spiritual Journey in Photography (Upper Room Books, 2012)

I need to spend more time listening for the Spirit. I certainly don’t do that enough or well.

Thankful to go back through all the week’s posts and read the great deal I missed. Need to take notes so I can do a better job responding. Know that all of you dear UR family are in my thoughts and prayers even when I don’t mention you by name here. Thank you for your prayers and comments.

Clean up at church after worship, Levi Sunday as the pastor calls it, went well,
Raked up the leaves, took out the air-conditioner, and winterized outdoors.
The bottle cap collection was put together and will be used to obtain two park
    benches.

Have a train sitting on the track of the Landecker layout. Face Timed with Oona, Willa, Chris, and enny yesterday.

Preparations for winter underway as the car will get snow tires and a check up next week.

A new week. Thank You, Lord.

I am also guilty of spending too little time listening to God. Instead I list to God, bombarding Him with a list of names and concerns of people who are dear to me. Although many express how much this means to them (thank you Andrea for your acknowedgement of such yesterday) I realize this is one type of time with God only. I need to expand my horizons.
Prayers for Robert and his church as both prepare for the coming winter. Many hands make quick work. The Amish are famous for this concept and I am an avid dabbler in all things Amish. Speaking of hobbies, today’s UR Devotional was from a man who lives in central PA and volunteers at the PA Railroad museum. I looked it up and it is in Ronks which is near Hershey and Amish country. He is also an avid model railroader. When I googled the railraod museum I also found two model railroad museums and society’s in my area.
Prayers for Andrea and her health and her negative inner voice. I share this trait with you, also from my childhood. May both be silent.
Prayers for April, BJ, Betsy and Lou. Prayers for good health for Connie and Marcy. Prayers for Jill and Larry and continued good health and good converstion. Prayers for Mary and Molly, may they be blessed with much joy.
Prayers, blessings, warm hugs, and thank you UR family

I responded to your comment yesterday, but it didn’t “get approved” – when I posted it – it said it was awaiting approval.
Maybe because I mentioned an organization or listed a web-site for spiritual direction.
Google it. Hopefully this post will be approved.

May all be well and be connected to our Creator!

Being in prayer, reading and listening to His Word, is what helps me to listen and hear the spirit move. It isn’t just by being in his Word, it is also being in communion with Him and feeling his presence before me, beside me and in me.

Sometimes, brief and simple prayers provide me the clarity to enter stillness and wait upon the Lord. Like the one listed above…Breathe on me, Breath of God. On the wall where I sit each morning – I have scripted “Be still and know that I am God.” When I am still and quieted – I feel like I am better able to sense the moving of the Spirit.
I need more of these moments, as it seems my school day just rushes on. I have a class before school starts, then a substantial break. And then I go for four hours straight – 5 classes. The time just flies – a good thing. It just seems so very fast this year. And this Friday marks the end of the first quarter.
On one hand I want to say “slow down” and yet, my heart yearns – “Come quickly, Lord Jesus”.
May this space provide a haven for those who come and linger. Praise God for the work of Upper Room Ministries.
