New every morning is your love, great God of light, and all day long you are working for good in the world. Stir up in us desire to serve you, to live peacefully with our neighbors and all your creation, and to devote each day to your Son, our Savior Jesus Christ. Amen.

Today’s Reflection

WHEN WE MINISTER to those in need, we respond to the presence of God in others and remember the moments when God ministered to us in our need. When we pray, we respond to God’s call to step out of the constant hustle of our daily lives, enter into sacred space, and be renewed by God’s Spirit. When we fast from food, drugs, technology, or possessions, we let go of the things that cloud our senses so that we can see God for who God is: the God who loves us deeply. The God who calls us beloved—that’s the real treasure.

I try to do something every day just as God does something for me everyday.

Thankful for the plywood that sits atop the benchwork awaiting its installation and the laying on model railroad train track, had a wonderful visit Tuesday with a new friend. He and I have many interests and experiences in common, I am very glad to have met him. Thankful for the new gym and the help I received with my car the other day.

Prayers for Marcy, Julie, Jill, Betsy, Andrea and Lowell, Lou, Connie, and Mary. Your needs, concerns, and joys are before the Lord as are those of all the UR family. Thank You, Lord.

Last week a special person, Bonnie Spangler, left our world to join her Savior and Heavenly Father. I am thankful for the opportunity I had to meet and get to know Bonnie, the world was a friendlier, nicer place with her in it. I ask for prayers for her husband Glen, for God’s comfort.

I pray for tose here and many others. I have found this to mean so much to people when they learn that I continue to pray for them and their special concerns. They are amazed that I remember so much. I guess my excellent memory is God’s gift to me.
Prayers for Glen and Janet as they mourn the passing of Bonnie.
Prayers for Connie and her husband and their business. Of course you are greatly missed, especially by me, for your lovely word pictures and deep faith.

Good morning, UR family! I don’t post often, but I assure you that I read the daily reflections every early mornings. Of course, oft times there aren’t comments, but I still enjoy the other readings and meditations of the scripture readings. Julie I love you and may God continue to bless you and keep you. Robert, hold your head up, God is in “CONTROL”.

      Lou, keeping you in prayer.

May God’s presence, blessings and love surround you and your family!

      • Lou Posted October 11, 2019 9:22 am

Thank you Mary- blessings on you.

    • Connie Posted October 11, 2019 8:36 am

You had the rug pulled out from under you, but you persevered and you triumphed over it all and came out on top! But of course you are sad and will probably always be on that day. God bless you, Lou, and much love to you and yours.

      • Lou Posted October 11, 2019 9:18 am

Thank you Connie- your words mean a lot to me.

  • Jill Posted October 11, 2019 3:43 am

Lou – your words touch me this morning. May He envelop you in His mighty grasp as memories come like waves. You are moving forward – I think we all sense this in your words. I know, from my perspective, it is easy to sense that I seem stuck in muddy mire. But, even there, He is present.
Have had a beautiful week of weather here – I met dad after school and we played nine holes of golf. Not well, but playing nonetheless, and enjoying the gorgeous weather. My mom’s sister and her husband are taking dad out today for lunch for his birthday. I am so grateful for the people in his life who continue to comfort him, be near to him.
May we honor Him in our simple actions and kind words today. Father, to You belongs all the glory.

    • Lou Posted October 11, 2019 9:21 am

Thank you Jill. I do know it gets better – I sure don’t cry everyday like I used to- some days are better than others – I am sure it is the same for you and your family in their grief. But God is near- especially in our grief and sadness we can feel his presence – you are such a support to your father — great gift for you both.

  • Mary Ng Shwu Ling Posted October 11, 2019 4:03 am

Jill, praise God for your mum’s sister and husband for taking your dad out for his birthday.

May you be strengthened and blessed as you spend time with your dad!
