New every morning is your love, great God of light, and all day long you are working for good in the world. Stir up in us desire to serve you, to live peacefully with our neighbors and all your creation, and to devote each day to your Son, our Savior Jesus Christ. Amen.

Today’s Reflection

JESUS EXPERIENCED the human condition in all its highs and lows. He had to figure out things and learn what it means to be human. This means I can look to Jesus for guidance, insight, and encouragement as I navigate the road of life. Because Jesus was fully human, I know he understands the joys and sorrows of human existence. He experienced firsthand what it means to deal with temptation, to weep over suffering and death, to be afraid, and even to doubt our faith. When I’m praying to him about my trials and tribulations, I know he can empathize and offer the comfort and peace I need. When I struggle in my faith, I’m invited to turn to the “pioneer and perfecter of our faith” for wisdom and guidance. When I am suffering, I am drawn to seek solace from the One who has intimate knowledge of suffering and death.

Today’s Scripture

“Let us run with perseverance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus the pioneer and perfecter of our faith, who for the sake of the joy that was set before him endured the cross, disregarding its shame, and has taken his seat at the right hand of the throne of God.”
—Hebrews 12:1b-2 (NRSV)

I am recovering from jet lag and am dealing with a cold. It is good to be back in the Upper Midwest during our beautiful fall. I have followed the reflections and your comments. I pray for Julie, that she will sense God’s presence, that she will soon be living in better circumstances. I pray for all UR friends and your loved ones.

I also pray for, and ask for your prayers, for Jean, who has advancing Parkinson’s disease; Gail, who has polycystic kidney disease, had a kidney transplant several years ago, and now has spots on her lungs that will be checked out this week at Mayo; and Gavin, a 13 year old boy who has a connective tissue disorder and feels very lonely and different from others his age. Thank you for your prayers.

    Wishing all a blessed day.

Yes and no. It is like reading about or watching a movie about (if one has watched the awe inspiring movie depicting His suffering) a stranger undergoing these devestating circumstances. So I understand that He suffered greatly, but as a human I can only relate to another’s suffering from my own perspective.
Prayers for Andrea’s recovery and thank you for your prayers for me. Prayers for those you mentioned, especially the boy as I am also suffering from isolation due to a health issue. It is especially difficult for young people.
Prayers for safe travel for Jill to her conference and may it be rewarding. If you ever come to Pittsburgh I would love to meet you and share our faith.
Prayers for Robert, have you and Erich resolved whatever your differences are and resumed your warm relationship? I pray you have.
Prayers for Mary and her students, may they do well on their exams.
Prayers for Marcy and her health.
Prayers for Connie, I miss her posts about her flowers and hummers, may she be well.
Prayers for Lou and her children.
Prayers, blessings, warm hugs and thank you UR faithful

Thanks so much for your prayers Julie!

May you experience more of God’s love in your life and may you be blessed abundantly!

Yes, it brings me comfort to know that Jesus understands your pain.

I love you, Lord, and I thank you!

Oh Julie, it is so good to be missed. Thank you for your prayers. We have been dealing with many things lately that consume our time. My Forget-Me-Nots bloomed, but a frost is coming. I think my Hummers make an appearance briefly, but will be on their way. You are a “Cornerstone” here on Reflections. Love and Blessings to you.

Yes! Only Jesus, God, and the Holy Spirit truly understand and know me. I am thankful to have such a team for support.

It has taken me a while to come to this understanding. Even though humans suffer and die God is with us, with our spirit, our soul the essence of who we are. The pain the body, mind, and spirit feel God understands and I am supported through it all. People ask, if God made us in His/Her image why do we suffer? I don’t know the compete answer, some of our suffering is self inflicted. I do know that one day there will be no more suffering. Thank You,
    Lord.

No update on Doris. Meesook is enduring after her surgery. Anneliese, with the help of Melanie, is doing well. I’m thankful for that.

Visited a new friend for a second time yesterday and had a delightful time.
    He will soon be 88.

Here a little later today, I can read the posts from earlier in the day.
Prayers for Andrea’s jet lag and the people she mentioned. Thankful for Julie’s prayers. Erich and I are working on a long term problem, hopefully some positive results once I see the counselor. In the meantime we are doing things together amicably. I also pray for the UR family even though I don’t always mention all of you by name here. Blessings to each of you. Thank You,
    Lord.
