Today’s Reflection
THE CHURCH is much like a theatrical production . . . The church brings together all sorts of people with different likes and dislikes, talents, gifts, passions, and resources. Individually, we may think that what we can contribute isn’t worth much or isn’t very important. Just like in the theater, though, there are no unimportant parts. When we each do our part, the final product is far bigger and better than the mere sum of everyone’s efforts. When the Holy Spirit enters the picture, anything can happen. It’s explosive. It’s exponential. It’s life-changing. It’s world-changing.

Today’s Question
When people watch your church in action, what do they see? Share your thoughts.
Today’s Scripture
You will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.

Prayer for the Week
Lord, help us be the Church you created us to be. Submit your prayer to The Upper Room Living Prayer Center or share it in the comment section.
Something More
Since World War II, The Upper Room has been sending copies of the daily devotional to military chaplains (and now to prison chaplains) for their ministries. Between Memorial Day and July 31, we aim to raise $100,000 for this valuable ministry. Please help our troops by giving today.

My church is very committed to reaching its community. This summer we are hosting several sports camps, as well as one day camps and themed camps. So far, there have been camps for soccer, basketball, tennis and football. This week there is a cooking camp and a wellness camp. We also assist an inner-city school with backpack and supply purchases, as well as food for kids to take home on weekends. When there is a specific family in need at the church, we are notified and assist. It is good to see a “smaller” church have such a desire to reach out to its community.
Grateful for the ebb and flow of summer time – the freedom that it brings. Getting together with my last student teacher – she had a baby in April – and I will meet baby Peter this morning as we meet for a walk. Meeting a friend from one of my Bible studies for lunch. She has a beautiful heart for the Lord – and our time together is always nourishing.
Prayers for this community.
My church is very active in every area of the community. I have attended there regularly since marrying in 1983….not so much in the past couple of years and miss that terribly.
Thankful for the perfect temps and low humidity.
Again, my church does next to nothing. They give food at Thanksgiving and Christmas and some gifts at Christmas. I have seen stories about the backpacks of food for children for the weekend when they receive noo school meals and have longed to be a part of such an effort. My church is mostly populated by older people, with many dying each year. The church is dying.
I have my yearly mammogram today. Because of dense tissue I also have an ultrasound. Prayers appreciated for a clean bill of health.
On a time crunch so a short missive today.
Prayers for Jill and her reconnecting with a student teacher.
Prayers for Connie, may she be well enough to attend church soon.
Prayers, blessings, warm hugs and thank you dear UR family
I’m too new to my church to answer today’s question. Even after two years in my previous church I couldn’t answer this. I lived in a neighboring town. From inside the church I saw a a lot of effort to help people, but also a lot of effort to keep the church alive.
Thankful for Bible study in my new church. With a new person (me), visitors from Maryland, and three local people I think our effort to answer the questions posed by the UR devotional were interesting and helpful. There was a phone call with a person who witnessed for Jesus. The friend who called him saw him as a person who was there for other people despite having serious health problems of his own.
Everyday there is progress getting settled. Items taken to the transfer station, brought home from storage, donated to help others. Thankful for this and for the lower humidity making the day very comfortable.
Prayers for you dear UR family, my old church, my new church, for the needs of people in flooded areas, and those dealing with earthquakes, illness, grief, and pain. Stay focused on the One who keeps us from falling, and picks us up when we do fall. Thank You, Lord.
When people watch your church in action, they see God’s love and providence, His grace and mercy.
Blessings!
