Today’s Reflection
MY HUSBAND and I gather with friends once a month for spiritual challenge and support, all of us sharing what we find helpful (or not) in our attempt to grow closer to God. One friend, retired pastor Wayne Anderson, told us of a practice he employs, which he calls “rummaging for God” in the events of the day. Each night as he lies in bed awaiting sleep, he sifts through the day’s encounters with people, the glimpses of nature, the work he has done. He tries to discover where God has shown through, where the Spirit’s action in events had gone unnoticed at the time. He says he usually finds so many that he falls asleep before he recalls them all! …
Looking for evidence of God’s activity in our lives has the power to transform our attitude from disappointment with self to ever-growing gratitude toward God, who is intimately involved with us. …
With this awareness of God’s activity will come a spirit of joyful anticipation and a sense of profound gratitude for all of life. Gratitude cannot help but flow into thankfulness and then into praise. Rummaging for God will emerge into a life lived to the praise of God’s glory.

There is so much evidence of God each day – surrounding me in nature, touching me by human kindness, an undertone of peace from The Spirit, pleasant banter with my students and my “communication” with Roger, to name just a few obvious ones. Father – fine tune my vision further – so I will bask in you even more and be grateful.
Grateful for small group last evening – it was our last study until mid January. We will carry each other in our hearts and stay in touch via texts and emails. Grateful that Suzanne is getting some relief from her intense pain from PsA. She is undergoing pretty intense physical therapy which is painful at the time – but is ultimately lessening overall pain. She commented that she could tell I was less stressed by my mom’s situation – she could see it in my eyes. And I could tell her smile (always there) was less forced and spoke to me about how she was, indeed, seeing improvement in her pain level. We can read each other very well, because we understand at a deeper level what constant discomfort can be like. God is so good in causing our paths to meet.
Father – you know the test results and the situation which lies before Connie. Be a sure presence to her, comforting her and leading her ahead.
Prayers, too, for Megan. May Julie be able to instill confidence and courage.
I see glimpses of God in Jill’s comments today. She is a truly amazing person and a role model for all. I am proud to know her via her words.
Thankful for:
A leafless yard. A hard days work for our lawn guy/friend.
A pretty sunrise.
Trip to the Dr. I am not used to having problems, usually easy-peasy visit.
My solar “hummingbird” that turns red, blue and green at night.
I see God in remembering to check another way to get today’s comments. When I tried the normal link it took me to yesterday’s comments. Which is where Robert commented without realizing it I guess. I of course see Him in my kitties and my daughter and all the UR family.
Your prayers are so appreciated. My worries seem to increase. Worried about h plans and lack of communicationn regarding what h is doing or not doing. Worries about Megan and her lack of trying to find work. My continued trying and failing…..

Yes, I see glimpsed of God in my uncle’s visit. It made my parents very happy and he also brought fruits from his garden for us to enjoy. More students for tuition and also time for a movie.
Praying for Narcy, Juliie and Connie’s health.
May God bless all with many glimpses of Him each day!
