Today’s Reflection
Note: This week’s New Every Morning reflections are structured differently to follow the format of our featured title, Rally: Communal Prayers for Lovers of Jesus and Justice, which addresses issues of social justice through reflection and over 50 call-and-response prayers known as litanies.
I can now freely receive the love I’ve always desired to have because I have embraced that I am not my past; I am a reflection of the love that Christ represents within me and within the way I love God’s people. Love is one of God’s purest gifts to us.
—Nikki Roberts, “As You Love Yourself,” in Rally: Communal Prayers for Lovers of Jesus and Justice, edited and compiled by Britney Winn Lee (Fresh Air Books, 2020)

Today’s Scripture

—2 Corinthians 5:17 (NRSVUE)
Today’s Litany
ONE: Merciful God of second chances,
For the privilege of being a beneficiary and a benefactor of grace,
Moment by moment, intention by intention,
ALL: We give you our gratitude.
ONE: For holy self-love and acceptance,
For wellness, self-forgiveness, and authenticity,
For wisdom and strength to confront with Light the dark corners of our pasts,
For courage to name and reject the bad theology that causes division
Among those who love, worship, believe, or think differently than we do,
ALL: We give you our gratitude.

I know that I am forgiven.
God’s infinite love covers everything- covers our sins and promises us eternal life.
Prayers for all this day-
Thankful for the love shown here through poster’s prayers and comments –
Embracing God’s love makes it possible for me to extend grace to others. I acknowledge that I can be a benefactor of God’s love.
I don’t feel like I live “under” shame or burdens of my past. Certainly my past has shaped me…my experience with my mom has led me to become in hospice and grief care, as well as companioning those in their last stage of life. God has enabled me to do this and I aim to glorify Him in being obedient.
A surprising day off of school today – due to ice. I really think we would have been fine, but got called off. I had taken the morning off to receive my treatment. I had no trouble getting to the appointment. An interesting procedure – we will see if it helps. I return Monday morning for another treatment. Usually they are a week apart – but I am heading to see dad and Becky on Tuesday.
The time today has been well used, preparing for when I will be gone.
