Today’s Reflection
We cannot love ourselves unless we are first loved by God. . . . Unable to heal ourselves, we need to be healed. We need to get the heart of the gospel straight—that the love we so deeply need is initiated by God not because we are lovable but in spite of our being unlovable.
—W. Paul Jones, Becoming Who God Wants You to Be (Upper Room Books, 2013)

Today’s Scripture
I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor rulers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor anything else in all creation will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.
—Romans 8:38-39 (NRSVUE)
Prayer for the Week

Praying, reading the Bible which I did every morning in advent but need to stay focused to continue this good practice, joyful worship music reminding me that God is love. All of these are good ways to remind me of Gods infinite love and mercy. Bless those impacted by the fires in LA. Bless those without adequate shelter on these bitter cold days. Thank you God for things taken for granted – a warm home and warming food to eat – bless our brothers and sisters without these things. Bless the lonely and fearful- may you give them the peace that only you can offer. Thank you Lord.
I’m not sure if I experience God’s infinite mercy and love when i am practicing music for the worship service, but I certainly feel God’s presence. It comes unexpectedly, often more than once. and it has been evident for some weeks now. Thank You, Lord
