New every morning is your love, great God of light, and all day long you are working for good in the world. Stir up in us desire to serve you, to live peacefully with our neighbors and all your creation, and to devote each day to your Son, our Savior Jesus Christ. Amen.

Today’s Reflection

Naturally, we can’t compel God to act on our timetable. Despite our earnest prayers and best willingness to surrender to whatever healing God wants, it may seem that God has put the process on hold. It may even seem that God has gone somewhere else. At this juncture it’s important not to blame or beat ourselves up but to stay open as best we can. We can also ask ourselves if a small part of us just might stand in the way of our surrender.

Today’s Scripture

Suddenly a woman who had been suffering from  flow of blood for twelve years came up behind him and touched the fringe of his cloak, for she was saying to herself, “If I only touch his cloak, I will be made well.” Jesus turned, and seeing her he said, “Take heart, daughter; your faith has made you well.” And the woman was made well from that moment.
—Matthew 9:20-22 (NRSVUE)

I don’t have any practices that focus on helping me relate to God’s timetable. I understand that God works in ways that we can’t fully understand. I believe that God is with me always and will see me through whatever comes. God has helped me and I am thankful for that. Thank You, Lord.

An interesting sentence there at the end…possibly a small part of ourselves is standing in the way of our complete surrender. This is something to take to prayer daily – seeking His revealing of truth where we are blind or choosing not to see.
The most important practice for me is reciting His faithfulness in times past. Seeing His hand over the course of my life. Things I had wished so deeply for which didn’t occur – and now, thank God they didn’t.
Grateful for nothing on the docket today after school – a leisurely evening with the Kittens. Mugi Kitten was sick off and on over the weekend, but has been keeping food down for over 48 hours – I’m thinking she is back to her old self.
