New every morning is your love, great God of light, and all day long you are working for good in the world. Stir up in us desire to serve you, to live peacefully with our neighbors and all your creation, and to devote each day to your Son, our Savior Jesus Christ. Amen.

Today’s Reflection

And God is the greatest and best mystery of all, for all of reality springs from God, was created by God, is held safe in God, and will be completed in God. Julian of Norwich affirms that all things are in God and God is in all things. There is no place not filled with God, nor any person either, and we have done nothing to make this happen. We live in a universe of God’s grace whether we know it or not and whether we want it or not.

—Roberta C. Bondi, Wild Things: Poems of Grief and Love, Loss and Gratitude (Upper Room Books, 2014)

Today’s Scripture

And one called to another and said,
“Holy, holy, holy is the LORD of hosts;
the whole earth is full of his glory.”

Something More

Advent is just around the corner. In Season’s Greetings, twelve vividly imagined letters from long-ago Bible characters who were there for the birth of Jesus speak to the many meanings of Christmas.

    I find this to be a hopeful reminder – God is in all things. The election results are no surprise to Him – and He knows and holds the future. What confidence we must claim in this. God is on the throne.
    Blessed assurance, Jesus is mine.
    Another full week, a emergency home repair able to be tended to quickly – I am grateful. Blue skies and warmth from the sun as I rake leaves to my curb. Kittens in the window watching.
    I am looking for simple things to be grateful for. Gratitude will lead my heart.

      Jill- I like your last statement – looking for things to be grateful for… they are all around us aren’t they? Gratitude lead all of our hearts…. Thank you for your words.

    Today, I ask God to help me see God in all things. So I guess prayer is one practice that can help me see God in all things. Reading and meditating on the scriptures in the Lectionary are another. That Christ followers all over the world are reading the same scriptures helps me feel connected to them and to God. I am extremely grateful for something today: reconnecting with a very old friend from high school: a wonderful compassionate person, who makes this world a better place. Thanks be to God.
