New every morning is your love, great God of light, and all day long you are working for good in the world. Stir up in us desire to serve you, to live peacefully with our neighbors and all your creation, and to devote each day to your Son, our Savior Jesus Christ. Amen.

Today’s Reflection

Intentional ministry by, with, and for boomers and other older adults invites us to come to grips with our own feelings about aging and growing old. Unless we see ourselves in the older adults around us, we may never accept the fact that we will someday be old ourselves. Getting past the wrinkles and seeing the souls of older adults is necessary for authentic and faithful ministry.

—Richard H. Gentzler, Jr., An Age of Opportunity: Intentional Ministry by, with, and for Older Adults (Discipleship Resources, 2018)

Today’s Question

Today’s Scripture

For the Lord is good;
his steadfast love endures forever
and his faithfulness to all generations.

    My church has done a wonderful job of this. There is a group of retired men who have various skills that are useful around the house. They help others…single women, older women, other seniors with odd jobs, etc.
    The past two days have been beautiful and it is to be even warmer for the next few. Nice to have doors and windows open again.
    Dipping my toes into the new car market. I test drove a vehicle yesterday, since I had a few spare hours in the afternoon. Going to take my time with this, see where it leads. I am not at a place where I must make a change – and it feels nice to be able to not make a rush decision. Spent some time with my best friend last evening. We were planning to do dinner, but she wasn’t hungry. Since it was such a lovely evening, we went for a long walk instead. Worked up an appetite for ice cream, so we treated ourselves to peanut butter oreo sundaes…a local ice cream place has lactose free cookies and cream ice cream – so that was our treat.

    CCUMC is doing this as we are able. Today there were 11 people in worship. Amazingly there was $2400 in offering, half of which will support mission work at Sager Brown in LA. CCUMC is a conundrum I am struggling to understand.
    Lovely weather, frost on the pumpkin in the morning turned to very pleasant suuny and now partly sunny skies with highs in the upper 60s.
    Thank You, Lord for the blessings of the day.
