Today’s Reflection
Since our spiritual life isn’t just a slice of our life but our whole life seen from the perspective of relationship with God, what happens when we forget to surrender to the presence and agency of the living Christ within us, the very Life within our life? Here’s what: We burn ourselves out making things happen.
—L. Roger Owens, Everyday Contemplative: The Way of Prayerful Living (Upper Room Books, 2021)

I find today’s question very difficult. I’m not sure IF I recognize what God is doing in my life. I have been asked and accepted to be the lay leader of the church and the chair of SPRC. We have multiple people wearing different hats in our small community of faith. I just feel that there are things that need doing and I do what I can to accomplish them. If this is surrender to God, then yes, I am doing it. Thank You, Lord
Had a delightful time visiting the dedication of a restored Meeting House and hearing an 1890 organ played. An ice cream social followed and then a surprise visit to a friend’s garden.
I feel like me most significant moment of surrender came with my diagnosis seven years ago. I was not sure how my activity level and my ability to teach at school would be impacted. I worried about not sleeping and my ability to be “on” at school. I can remember surrendering that worry to God, acknowledging my need and desire to trust Him. Since then, surrendering moments have come more easily, with less angst and hesitation. Thank You, Father.
Dad and my week at the beach with my church friends was quite good. They loved on dad so much, engaged with him, laughed with him, included him. He thoroughly enjoyed it. I am so grateful to all of them for inviting us and making us feel part of the group. We couldn’t have scripted better weather. The simple joy of being on the beach each day – so very good.
Grateful for safe travels home and for dad feeling well.
I am looking forward to this summer, much more so than I can remember in years past. It is good to be home with my Kittens. Have yardwork and other things to attend to today.
